Mercure Haydock Hotel

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Ideal for race day. Lovely buffet style breakfast and friendly staff. Only let down was the room was a little ‘tired’ and in need of a refurb

We were given a room that had no TV with used towels in the bathroom, we were moved to another room, the hallway smelt of smoke and two staff members also in front of us mentioned this but do not think anything was done about this. Hotel in a good location with good leisure facilities.

I stayed here on a week day for a trip to Haydock Races and came away fairly disappointed. I wasn’t expecting luxury given the price point, but it also wasn’t especially cheap compared to other budget options nearby, so I had hoped for a better standard. The first impression of the room wasn’t great. There were several dark hairs on the bed, a dead bug in the bed, and a ripped pillowcase, which immediately made the room feel unclean and poorly maintained. The curtains were also full of holes, so the light came straight through early in the morning. Noise was another issue. The rooms are definitely not soundproof and you can hear people constantly opening and closing doors in the corridor. On top of that, the cleaners were hoovering in the room next door at around 8am, so there was no chance of a lie in. The breakfast room itself was pleasant enough and the food was alright, although certainly not the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. I didn’t enjoy the coffee, and the two breakfast staff members seemed quite chaotic during service. Overall, it was okay for the price but I would suggest more attention to cleanliness.

Hotel is ideal for visiting Haydock races. Approx. 20 minute walk. Rooms were big enough and well equipped but a little dated in parts. Friendly bar area, with good food. Overall a great stay and lovely hotel.

Friendly staff but dated rooms and my room clearly had a moth issue!

Big bathroom which was very clean, staff are very friendly, welcoming and provide great hospitality. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast has a great selection of choices from full English buffet to cereals, fruits and pastries. My second time staying here and will definitely be returning when needing to stay in the area!

Reception and check in was exceptional. Room attention to detail could have made this so much better

Room was very basic was traveling with family so we asked to check in early charged us £30 but our daughter who travelled with us room was already ready when she arrived for them but we got charged which I wasn't happy with. Hotel rooms were very basic, hitel reception area was nice the bar staff were very slow and even forgot at coffer we had asked for at one point had to ask again didn't get breakfast but had a breakfast sandwich from bar before was left was nice. Would stay again but need to upgrade rooms and needs a bit of tlc.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The staff welcomed us with smiles and took time to answer our questions. They were so welcoming. Great sized room, toiletries, lovely big comfortable bed, bath with plenty of hot water. Food was very good and reasonably priced. We were just sad that our timetable didn’t give us enough time to use the beautiful pool. All in all a great stay! Thank you!

Few broken things noticed in the room but overall good night sleep and chilling zone

Clean rooms staff were brilliant and free parking plenty places

Overall a positive stay clean, comfortable for a one night stay.
