Staff were helpful. Disappointing it didn’t say on booking that the spa facilities were extra, especially when it had on some other offerings. WiFi didn’t work either.

Reception staff were disorganised. We had 2 rooms booked - one was a larger king and the other a twin. We were directed to the wrong room. After repacking and finding the correct room the a/c was not working. Engineer never appeared as promised and after a further call a receptionist came to say he couldn’t fix it. We were promised a second fan which never arrived. The twin room was set up as a double despite requesting a twin. Both rooms were a long way apart despite asking for them to be close to each other. Toiletries fixed on the wall next to the sink were hand wash and conditioner rather than body lotion. In the shower it’s a combined hair wash/body wash. We were given complimentary breakfast as a result of the issues. The hotel is set in lovely grounds but rooms need a facelift and staff need to be better trained.

Amazing hotel and grounds. Staff are superb, and I would recommend the spa particularly Toi/Helen. Fantastic masseuse.

The hotel looked very posh and impressive from the outside, and that was probably the only part I genuinely liked. Unfortunately, once inside, it felt about 30 years behind modern standards. The room was clean, but honestly, the average person probably has a better bedroom and bathroom at home than what was being offered here. I also paid extra for a room with a king-size bed, but it was the smallest “king” bed I’ve ever seen, which was really disappointing. The bath was ridiculously small too — I could barely even stand in it properly, and I’m a fit, average-sized person, so that was pretty pathetic. On top of that, the TV looked like something from the 1950s, which just added to how outdated the whole place felt. Overall, it was a big disappointment and nowhere near worth the extra money.

Really disappointed with this property to be honest. Stayed for 1 night with our daughters for a treat after they had been competing in a gymnastic competition close by. Receptionist had our booking wrong on arrival and only gave us 1 room instead of 2. The rooms were meant to be 2 x suites, but they just gave us 1 x suite and 1 x normal room. Told that if we wanted to use the swimming pool that would be an extra £20 per person, didn't see any mention of that on the booking info or hotel info page. We also booked a table at 8:30pm in the golf clubhouse restaurant for dinner. When we got there we were told it it would be over an hour wait for food as they had a party of 32 in. Ended up having to order KFC on deliveroo to eat in the room as was tool late to then eat in the other restaurant. On paper this should have been a really nice nights stay, but wish we hadn't bothered.

Room was awful. Dirty, broken window left open due to horrific smell. Sheets didn’t even cover mattress. Genuinely worst hotel room in 20 years. I asked to move rooms if poss and got refused at reception. Was so awful I got up and left at 3.30am

Lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Beautiful and well kept gardens. My 3 teenagers loved the golf driving range. Beware of the extra charges to use the pool which were very steep.

Fantastic stay was a special occasion and made our trip lovely. Only down for stay was morning breakfast little expensive for the quality.

Positives - beautiful hotel in great grounds. Had tea in the restaurant which was very good. Bed was huge. Negatives - couldn't get bath to work and my wife was kept awake during the night by noise in room next door. Use of the spa was £20 per person (which I was willing to pay) but was then told we couldn't use it until 5pm. We'd arrived at 3pm with plan to go in spa before our friends arrived later.

Nice property and grounds, service and food good at breakfast. The big disappointment was having to pay £20/pp to use the swimming pool, which is the first time I can remember having to pay to use a pool at hotel. this should be made clear when booking

Nice communal areas, friendly staff and good service. However the rooms are severely outdated and in need of renovation - there was damp/mould in my room, peeling paint, bathroom was old, room was also dusty. Not the standard I'd expect for Champneys.
