It is a beautiful building in a lovely location. I’m not sure if the severe heat made a few things more difficult during our stay.
We ate in the restaurant on Saturday evening, and although our food took quite a long time to arrive, what we did have was lovely and we really enjoyed it. A couple who were seated next to us after we had arrived received both their starter and main course before we got our food. We had ordered several starters and side dishes because we weren’t very hungry, so I’m not sure if that contributed to the delay. Despite this, our waitress couldn’t have been nicer, and it was an extremely hot evening, so we appreciated how hard the staff were working.
The room was okay, although we had trouble opening the wardrobe because it was positioned too close to the bed. You could only open one wardrobe door at a time to about a 70-degree angle.
I also found a few different bugs in the bedroom, which made me feel a little uncomfortable, especially as we hadn’t had the windows open. There is no air conditioning, although a fan is provided in the room.
The bathroom was modern and clean, but the shower didn’t have a separate handheld hose, which is something I personally prefer.
All of the staff were lovely. The breakfast was excellent, as was the breakfast service, and the reception staff were all friendly, helpful and welcoming throughout our stay.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but for almost £650 for two nights, we expected a little more in terms of the room
