Room was very clean , comfy bed , breakfast was not great , very raw looking bacon , sausages undercooked and not very hot.lady at the press cooked my sausages again in the kitchen , and we ordered poach eggs that were fresh. Breaskfast was a let down , but overall stay was good .

Our standard double room was pretty small and the ensuite was small and definitely 'a bit tired'. Room cleaning (specifically the toilet pan) wasn't very good. The bar was fine and the bar food was good. Breakfast was unlimited, but wasn't the best we've had. The grilled tomatoes were under-cooked and the toast was completely unwarmed on one side (on each of our 3 days). The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel location, next to the elevated main road, isn't idyllic, but there are a couple of good pubs a short distance along the canal (out of town). However, the location is a great spot from which to explorer Chester on foot. The car park costs £12 per day but was vital.

Ideal for a short stay to explore the city. Convenient location for the railway station only 7 minutes walk away. Good complimentary breakfast and comfortable bed. Room a bit small but not a prblem for a few days. Hotel is popular and consequently quite busy. Staff handle this very well and were always very pleasant. Very good value hotel in a nice position adjacent to the canal.

Excellent location, rooms in need of renovation. Bathroom and shower need serious upgrading. Breakfast choice extremely limited with worn out crockery. Dining area in need of renovation and replacement of seating.

Hadn't stayed here in a few year - i now remember why. Very average breakfast and walls must be paper thin to hear neighbour snoring. Staff lovely though!

The hotel and spa were great. Room looked a bit tired though and the shower wasn’t very powerful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast looked good but the cold selection could be improved. More choice of fruit, some granola and natural yoghurt would have been welcome. Overall though a lovely place to stay and very convenient location for exploring the city of Chester.
