Kahoku-cho, Kami City, Kochi Prefecture is the hometown of Takashi Yanase, the creator of Anpanman. The Anpanman Museum is located in a mountain town where an abundance of nature still remains. There are no complicated paintings and no fixed order to view them, so you can easily enjoy the museum. The Yanase Takashi Gallery on the 4th floor is the main space of the museum. The gallery features drawings of Anpanman and his friends that can only be seen here, created by Takashi Yanase himself for this museum. The basement is home to Anpanman World, where visitors can experience the world where Anpanman and his friends live. In addition to the exhibition rooms, the walls, floors, and stairs of the museum are designed with a variety of tricks that offer opportunities to meet Anpanman and his friends.
The Poem and Märchen Gallery is a gallery of cover illustrations and cuts that Takashi Yanase had created since the first issue of the magazine Poem and Märchen. This gallery showcases the colorful world of Takashi Yanase, including cover illustrations and plates for Poem and Märchen, as well as his poetry and manga. Two to three times a year, the gallery holds special exhibitions of original artwork by artists associated with Poem and Märchen and by picture book authors from Japan and abroad.

The entrance with a 3-story atrium, reminiscent of an open-air stage, is inspired by the Piazza del Campo in Siena, a medieval city in Italy. (Entrance: 1st floor)
