I am a regular guest at the Olson. And usually book the two bedroom open plan suite, and i specifically choose the Non Balcony suite. However the last few times when I checked in, I was given the Balcony two bedroom Suite which I intentionally do not choose during my booking. Previously they admitted mistake and would change my room, however my last booking they couldn’t as the hotel was booked out. I was so disappointed and annoyed and tried to find alternative accommodation. Given the lateness I wasn’t able to and me and my five guest had were crammed in the smaller two bedroom rooms. I am now considering never booking again despite often booking the Olson for all of my MEL stays and being a Gold ALL Accor member.

The bed was exceptionally large and occupied a disproportionate amount of the available carpeted space. For future stays, we recommend limiting the room furnishings to a single armchair of the “king of the castle” variety. Additionally, the provision of charging facilities for all device types is essential, as we will require adequate means to recharge both our equipment and our cognitive capacity. Please ensure that the slippers are reinstated in the room; I currently have them placed in my bag. Mission accomplished.

This is an excellent Hotel for anyone visiting South Yarra. However for anyone changing their booking dates it was very difficult to communicate with the property via e mail. Communication with the Hotel is diverted to their parent company e mail which took two weeks to get a response to a simple query.
