English Bay Hotel

I would book again if I visit here in the future. Everything is good. If you are not picky about the remodeling, the hotel is worth to stay.

The place is old but the bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful and the location excellent.

The hotel has an excellent location. It is walking distance to Stanley Park and very easy access to public transportation. That though is the only positive thing I can say. The hotel was filthy. The room was not made with towels on the floor and beds and made. We told them, and an hour two later the room was made up. That was the only time the cleaning crew came into the room over our four nights stay. They did not make the beds change the linens or the towels. And the towels were so old that they were falling apart. The bathroom was old and dirty. There was dust caked on to the walls. There was a fire door at the top of the stairway with the sign that said for fire protection the door must be closed at all times. I think I saw it closed one time over the four night stay. I was sadly disappointed.

The property was a bit tired but the staff and the rooms were excellent and beds comfortable. Location was prime for visiting Stanley park and Granville island!

The kitchen provided cooking supplies, refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, etc. Room was quiet, TV worked, and bed was good. We did not ask for beach view.

Position was fantastic. Spacious rooms. Older decor, but clean and comfortable.

Older property, fairly run down and really in need of a coat of paint. Quite clean but the cleaning products used are really pungent. Reasonably priced for Vancouver and the location is excellent. I would say that the location offsets the negatives of the property but it depends on what you value.

Good location

Conveniently located right by English Bay and walkable to almost everything. Transit or an Uber will get you to anywhere else you want to go. As far as the hotel, you get a lot of space in your room with a full kitchenette and a very spacious bathroom area. Have stayed before and would stay again as long as the price is right.

Very clean dated motel in a fantastic location across the English Bay beach. Great location for launching your BC visit. Sunset beach close walk. Close to Stanley park sea wall entrance. Rent a bike and spend the day exploring area

Wonderful stay. So close to all the attractions we wanted to see.

I cannot speak about all the rooms here, but the one we stayed in was not sanitary. Both beds had questionable large areas of brown stains on the box springs and the odor when you open the door hits you so hard. Originally it smelt like the room had been soaked in urine mixed with pinesol. We thought maybe it was a reaction to something with the cleaner, so we opened the window, turned on the fans and left for 3 hrs. When we came back the odor was still there. We complained to the front desk but the hotel was full so they could not move us rooms until the next day. The front lobby and hallway did not have this smell, just when you opened our door. We tried leaving the door open and window open with three fans running to get rid of the odor but it did not go away. I had to be up at4am the next morning for a race so we decided to just try and sleep. I was very uncomfortable here and barely sleep. After my race they said a room would be ready at 3pm for us to move but was told it "may still smell as this is an old hotel" and they could give us an air freshener. We decided to check out early and find another hotel. I choose this hotel for the location not the ratings, but we barely spent more than 7 hours in our room because of the odor and dirtiness of the room. We didnt even want to sit in the chairs in the room. The staff did try to help the best they could but I do not believe anyone should be breathing that mysterious odor in......even if its a 2 star hotel.

The location was perfect… close to grocery store, drug store and Stanley Park. Having a kitchen was helpful but it is so close to so many great food options! The hotel is within walking distance of many attractions and public transit. It was old but roomy and clean.

It was a nice stay for a good price, the building was looking a bit older but had great character and worked perfectly for our stay, so we were very happy with it!
