Loved the old 17th century beams in the rooms and the uneven floors. Property was very quiet - even with the Football World Cup semi-final on while we were there. Staff were all incredibly helpful and loved the breakfast. 100% recommend and would love to take my dog next time as they are very dog friendly (they get a sausage at breakfast!).

we were give a free upgrade to room 5 which has access to a raised garden area with seating . good size bedroom and bathroom with spacious shower.good breakfast and nice menu for evening meal .

A very atmospheric pub/hotel. We were lucky to get a large spacious room and our bed was very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. If we pass this way again, we'd certainly make another booking.

This is a really cute, 400 (ish) year old pub. The location is great as well. We asked for a vegan breakfast is it was no problem, and it was tasty. My only issue is less likely to be a problem for most people, but as someone with mobility issues, the very uneven floors led to a lot of tripping. My husband had no issues at all. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Parking was easy being right outside the property.
A lovely lady called us to check our arrival time as we had booked an evening meal and the last order time was 8pm and she didn't want us to miss out.
We had a lovely evening meal, with it being their weekly Pie night it really hit the spot after a long journey!
Our room was very spacious and extremely comfortable too.
There were lots breakfast options and what we both had was delicious.
We will definitely return as this place is a real gem. And being centrally located for visiting family, the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District the location is perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak. The room was basic, but clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner there as well and it was delicious. The breakfast was good. My husband got the full English and I got scrambled eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs seemed to be the rehydrated kind, but otherwise the meal was good. We would stay here again.

The whole hotel was spotless, everyone was so kind, nothing was a problem, a special shout out to Sarah, she was always on hand, friendly and happy to help, it makes a big difference to a happy stay. Food was good and hot, room was warm and bed was fab with proper pillows, not the small hard rocks that other hotel favour! This is our second stay and it is a great base to explore the lakes from. Highly recommended.

This is an amazing pub! Lovely staff who are friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding with some great specials. There is always a buzz. We had one meal here that was so good a week later when I had to return I spent the whole week here! Highly Recommend

This hotel has friendly staff with a warm welcome, good food and is good value for money. It was convenient and comfortable. It’s an old building, so it’s not all modern and pristine, but it does have character and we feel that we had good value for what we paid. It was a very cold spell and our room was very chilly for a good few hours on arrival, but it did warm up and was warm and comfy all night. We sat by the cosy fire in the pub and relaxed. Everywhere in the hotel was clean, extra large bed was comfy and all our laundry items were clean and fresh.
If you are looking for the pristine surroundings of a modern hotel, then you should pay double the price and consider going elsewhere. If you are happy with a friendly atmosphere, and a little dated, but very clean surroundings, we would recommend this hotel. I think that the price is very fair for the service, room and food that we received. Thank you to all for our comfy overnight stay.
