This hotel is amazing for how inexpensive and central it is to Joetsu. The Art Hotel has 3 of its own restaurants in property, all serving delicious western and Japanese exclusive food. Close to many restaurants and bars. A great Lawson convince store across the street and a 5 min walk to Takada Station. This is a great place to stay!

I have never had a bad stay at this hotel. I’ve visited this hotel 3 times since July of 2025. This last stay I had mistakenly hit the button for Single Smoking Room. When I discovered my mistake, the front desk staff quickly sorted me, and didn’t charge extra for a double room Non Smoking! The restaurants here are also delicious!

I used this hotel as nothing more than a place to store my bags and crash for the night, oh and take a shower. It did the job no frills, and I’m pretty happy. The staff were very friendly! That being said, the room I was in could use an update. Everything was well worn and there was age that just can’t be scrubbed away. Fine for me, maybe not everyone.

Everything about my stay worked out beautifully. I really appreciate how great a location it is. Train station is right by the hotel, and hotel is at the center of downtown. It is of walking distance to grocery chains. Beautiful reataurant is available on the first floor.

Joetsu is such a beautiful city very rarely visited by foreigners. Go take a walk around the Takada Castle grounds and see all the variety of Giant Lotus flowers. See the amazing art at the museums. Also learn about Samurai history with Kenshin Uesugi!

Great location, hotel is old, but well maintained. Rooms are small but fine and clean. Parking was not free, it is 500 yen. It is in the center, so many options for dining and shopping within walking distance.

Very cute train station only short 2blocks away from hotel. Lots of cute shops along the way to Takada Castle area. AND there is a LAWSONS across the street... very convenient!
