Gora Kadan

We had an AMAZING experience. The hotel was very luxurious and very peaceful. The service was incredible, the food was artfully prepared and very delicious, and the Onsen and in room amenities were relaxing. I can’t wait to come back!

A fantastic stay overall at Gora Kadan. Our room was impeccable with a lovely balcony that featured a small Japanese garden. The room assistant was attentive and helpful. The kaiseki meals were presented in lovely dishes with sophisticated design, were tasty and quite elaborate, each meal was truly a feast for the eyes and taste buds. Each meal was a true feast for the senses and the taste buds. The onsen was just the perfect size. We are already planning our next trip to Gora Kadan with more family members. There is so much to do in Gora and beyond, especially around lake Ashinoko. 

Get ready to be pampered. Lovely people that run this place , every one of them Amazing grounds and facilities, focused on relaxation and access to hot water from the springs The food is not very western friendly, but you’re in Japan One annoying thing is they were painting the deck while we were there, but I guess they gotta do it sometime

This property was beyond amazing. The pictures online do not do it justice. It is just gorgeous and the attention to detail immaculate. The service was top notch, the dinner they serve in your own room was wonderful, and the public and private onsens were so peaceful and serene. We will definitely be coming back.

Staff and service is incredible, onsens are serene and wonderful, food is plentiful and outstanding. A fabulous place to unwind.

The view from our room was stunning and location is very convenient. We loved the japanese style room. We had the Kadan Suite with balcony (or so I thought). Based on the photos on the website, this is what we had. A bit confusing because we still had to have our Kaiseki meal in the restaurant. The website indicates only Annex Senshin and Meigetsu are served in the restaurant, but we were told ours was as well. Additionally, their facilities guide needs to be updated on their website. Club AI apparently does not exist anymore. The staff that greeted us upon arrival were friendly, but she only spoke and looked at my partner the entire time when explaining the facilities. Despite booking the room myself, I felt ignored and excluded. Even when asking a question, I was dismissed quickly. I found it odd. They also take quite some time to respond on expedia prior to arrival, but I am not sure if that is an app problem. The food was delicious. The server we had the first night was amazing. She explained each dish without looking at the menu and her service was consistent. She was very attentive. The other servers were just OK. They didn't explain the dishes as well and sometimes had to look at the menu. The inconsistencies were visible despite the food being delicious. Overall for the price, I would expect a higher level of service or at least a consistent one. For our next trip to Hakone, we will be trying another place.

An amazing place only surpassed by its amazing staff. We loved everything about Gora Kadan--from the friendly and organized communications ahead of the stay to the clean to the well-cared for room and the wonderful food. Special thanks to bringing creativity and flair to providing a vegetarian kaiseki. It's worth staying here at lease once.

Amenities and staff were amazing! Honestly, this was our best experience in Japan.
