Hotel Alpina

Kandersteg, located in the Swiss Alps, is a true winter wonderland. The small village is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, making it the perfect destination for a winter getaway. Hotel Alpina sits about a 10min walk from the train station. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful. More options for breakfast would have been nice but overall it was a great stay. We arrived 2 days before ski season so had to venture to grindelwald where everything was also closed so best to check the weTger maps on the day and call. During the winter months, Kandersteg transforms into a winter sports paradise. The area is home to a number of ski resorts, including the family-friendly Oeschinen and the more challenging Sunnbüel. The skiing in Kandersteg is fantastic, with well-groomed slopes and a variety of runs for all ability levels. One of the best things about Kandersteg is its charming village center. The small town is filled with cozy restaurants and cafes, many of which serve traditional Swiss dishes. The local food and drink are a highlight of any visit to Kandersteg, and the friendly locals are always happy to recommend their favorite spots.

The best hotel during our 8 nights stay in Switzerland. Lovely views from the room. Our son enjoyed sleeping in the attic beds. The breakfast was OK and the hosts are lovely people. The village of Kandersteg is a place to behold.

The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, breakfast was delicious, and our room was incredibly charming with a phenomenal view of the mountains. One of the comfiest beds and duvets I have ever used!

Good hotel to base yourself

We had an amazing experience for a weekend gateway and were welcomed so nicely! Would definitely go back and clearly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a quality hospitality! We took away our dinner and the hotel manager graciously allowed us to dine in the common area and provided us plates and cutleries.

Es war ein sehr freundlicher Empfang und man hat sich auf während des Aufenthalts sehr wohl und behütet gefühlt. Das Zimmer war sauber, gemütlich und bot eine hervorragende Aussicht.

Double charged! We tried to talk with the hotel management About our issue without success. And the hotel doesn't have receptionist. They just leave you a key for your room in the reception.

We only stayed for 1 night due to us visiting Oeschinensee but this hotel exceeded my expectations! It had an outlet to plug in phones next to our bed, in the bathroom and other places. It had two sinks to multitask and it was comfortable with good sheets. I was surprised when we were greeted and given a tour at 10 pm at night. I had called the hotel about the late checkin and they were so accommodating. I enjoyed the buffet and the service. I will definitely come back!

Nice and helpful staff. 10 min walk from the station. Can walk the cable car station going up to There is a bus station for buses to Blausee very close to the hotel. Need not to go back to the train station for bus.

Easy walk from train. Nice room with balcony and views of the mountains. Good breakfast. Clean, safe, friendly staff. Short walk to town, grocery and restaurants.
