Great visit with friendly staff

Excellent stay. Love the new rooms. You need to clean the chairs in the bar. Had to wipe a few down myself.

This was our third stay at the Malmaison on the Quayside and our first time in a junior suite which was lovely. Unfortunately there was an experience that I find unforgivable, which means we are unlikely to stay there again. My husband was taking part in 'The Wall' ultra run, from Carlisle to the Baltic, which finishes just opposite the Malmaison. Around about 5am I returned to the hotel, having been up all night supporting him along the route. A friend followed me in her car, but we had to park in different bits of the car park and got separated. I texted her to ask her to wait for me in reception, because I needed to make a bathroom pitstop before heading to watch my husband finish his race. My friend came into the hotel and stood in the lobby to wait for me. The receptionist asked if she was ok. She said that she was just waiting for her friend, who was a guest at the hotel. He asked if she was a guest and when she said no he told her she had to leave because 'only guests are allowed to use the facilities'. I received the most mortifying text from her saying 'I've just been told by the man on reception at hotel that I'm not allowed in because I'm not a guest.' I can understand that you'd want to ensure that your property is secured at night. But I was absolutely disgusted to hear how my friend had been treated. To throw a lone woman outside at 5am, rather than allow her to wait for 5 minutes in a safe location is just not acceptable to me. Malmaison should be ashamed.

Everyone was super accomodating and helpful. Great hotel, great location, great service and great breakfast.

Food

All in all a positive Malmaison experience. We were going to have breakfast but decided not to when we’re greeted abruptly at the door.

Fab stay, whole experience faultless

Room was a great size but bathroom was compact. Clean but small. Great hotel. Happy hour was brilliant for cocktails.

Beautiful hotel with comfortable beds amazing views

Stayed at malmaison quayside many times before, such a lovely hotel, problem we had was the traffic noise at the back, room 411, noisy lorries pulling up outside, such a shame, definitely stay again but at the river side.

The tv did not work when we turned it on and required staff to come and fix it. Sofa was very firm, had no give in it and there was a funny smell in the bathroom when we entered the room.

Well positioned on the river, convenient location.

Well located, courteous staff, decent restaurant. Has great views. Rooms fronting bridge do experience some noise from visitors and notably bikes passing over, eases after 10pm.

Parking was very convenient and well priced
