COVID-19: Regulation Update on Car Travels during PPKM

PPKM Level 2-4: New Regulations about Passenger Capacity

In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Transportation has regulated the travel requirements for travelers who are traveling long distances until the 30th of August for Java & Bali Island and the 6th of September for outside Java & Bali Island. Java & Bali Island Emergency PPKM Regulation

• Travelers traveling for more than 250 km or 4 hours must show a (1) vaccine card/vaccine certification (from PeduliLindungi App) that shows that the passenger has received at least their first vaccination and (2) a negative rapid antigentest that was performed at the longest 24 hours before the start of the trip or a negative PCR test that was performed at the longest 48 hours before the start of the trip.

Travelers traveling within agglomeration cities are still recommended to provide the two documents above since there is a possibility of random testing.

Travelers who are not or have not been vaccinated due to medical reasons can use the rapid antigen or PCR test only. However, they need to show a letter from a medical specialist.

• Car passenger capacity must be reduced by 50%.

Other Islands Emergency PPKM Regulation

• Travelers traveling for more than 250 km or 4 hours must show a negative rapid antigentest that was performed at the longest 24 hours before the start of the trip or a negative PCR test that was performed at the longest 48 hours before the start of the trip.

Travelers traveling within agglomeration cities are still recommended to provide the two documents above since there is a possibility of random testing.

Important Information

• Travelers must be in a healthy condition and are not suffering from the flu, cold, coughs, diarrhea, fever, and loss of smell. Their body temperature also must not exceed 37.3°C.

• Travelers must wear 3-ply cotton face masks or surgical masks.

• Travelers are recommended to wear modest clothing (e.g. a jacket or long-sleeve shirts).

• Travelers are not allowed to talk to the phone throughout the journey.

• Travelers are not allowed to eat or drink in journeys less than 2 hours, except to take medicine.
