If symptoms persist or worsen, you should consider descending to a lower altitude.

The most convenient way to travel from Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama is by plane. Direct flights to El Loa Airport in Calama take around 2 hours and 10 minutes. From there, you can rent a car, book an airport transfer service, or take a bus to San Pedro de Atacama. The journey from the airport to the city center takes approximately 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Santiago. However, it's not recommended since the journey can take up to 24 hours.
