Masjid Raya Al-Mashun, also known as the Grand Mosque of Medan, was commissioned in 1906 by Sultan Ma'mun Al Rasyid from the Sultanate of Deli. Designed by two Dutch architects, Van Erp and J.A. Tingdeman, this octagonal mosque combines architectural elements from the Middle East, India, and Spain. The mosque was built as part of the Sultanate's palace complex, which included Maimun Palace and Sri Deli Park nearby.
