Bali may be known for its beaches, temples, and rice terraces, but there is another side of the island waiting beyond the usual itinerary. Scattered across its lush highlands, river valleys, and tropical forests, Bali's waterfalls offer everything from easy nature escapes to rewarding jungle adventures.

Some are close enough to popular tourist areas for a half-day trip, while others require a longer drive and a proper walk through the forest. From the dramatic cascades of North Bali to a waterfall tucked inside a natural canyon, here are eight Bali waterfalls worth chasing on your next island escape.

8 Bali Waterfalls Worth Chasing

To help you find one that matches your travel style, here are eight waterfalls across Bali, along with the essential details to know before adding them to your itinerary.

1. Tegenungan Waterfall: An Easy Escape from the Ubud Area

If you want to add a waterfall to your Bali itinerary without committing to a long trek, Tegenungan is one of the easier choices. Located in Kemenuh Village, Sukawati, Gianyar, the waterfall is relatively accessible from Ubud and has a well-developed visitor area. Indonesia Travel places it around 24 minutes from Ubud by road, depending on traffic.

The waterfall drops through a green landscape into a natural pool, giving you the chance to combine sightseeing with a refreshing break. Current information from Indonesia Travel lists the attraction as open daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with admission at Rp30,000 for adults and Rp15,000 for children aged 5 to 9.

2. Sekumpul Waterfall: Chase Multiple Cascades in North Bali

Sekumpul is worth the extra effort for travellers who want their waterfall trip to feel like an adventure. Located in Sekumpul Village, Sawan, Buleleng, the attraction is known for a cluster of waterfalls surrounded by steep green hills. Indonesia Travel describes seven waterfalls flowing within the same landscape.

Getting there is part of the experience. The route involves a significant number of steps and river crossings, so this is not the waterfall to squeeze into a rushed itinerary. The official Sekumpul Waterfalls site currently lists daily opening hours from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM and offers different visitor packages, including a view-only option from Rp20,000 and guided trekking packages from Rp150,000.

3. Banyumala Waterfall: A Serene Stop in North Bali

Banyumala offers a quieter-looking setting, tucked into the highlands of Wanagiri, Sukasada, Buleleng. The waterfall consists of two main cascades accompanied by smaller streams that flow down a lush rock wall into a natural pool. The North Bali tourism site highlights the clear water and surrounding forest.

You will still need to walk downhill to reach the waterfall, but the approach is shorter than the trek at Sekumpul. Current 2026 visitor information reports an entrance fee of around Rp50,000 and operating hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last entry around 5:00 PM.

4. Gitgit Waterfall: A Classic North Bali Stop

For travellers exploring North Bali, Gitgit is one of the easier waterfalls to work into a road trip. Located in Sukasada, Buleleng, the waterfall is surrounded by tropical vegetation and has an established visitor area, making the overall experience less remote than some of the island's more hidden cascades.

Beyond the waterfall itself, the area provides basic visitor facilities including parking, toilets, food and drink services, and information facilities. Current visitor information lists operating hours from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Visitors should also pay attention to local signs, particularly around sacred areas and sections of the waterfall that are not intended for climbing.

5. Aling-Aling Waterfall: Bring Your Adventurous Side

Aling-Aling in Sambangan Village, Sukasada, Buleleng, is less about simply standing in front of a waterfall and more about experiencing the surrounding natural landscape. The area contains several waterfalls and is particularly known for adventure activities around its smaller cascades.

The main Aling-Aling waterfall is around 35 metres high, while nearby waterfalls such as Kroya are associated with natural rock slides and cliff-jumping activities. These activities are not something to attempt independently. Visitors should follow the designated route, use the required safety equipment, and go with local guides where required.

6. Tukad Cepung Waterfall: Walk into a Hidden Canyon

Tukad Cepung in Tembuku, Bangli, delivers a very different waterfall experience. The cascade is tucked inside a rocky canyon, meaning the final part of the walk involves stairs, rocks, and shallow water before you reach the waterfall chamber.

Its most recognizable feature is the way sunlight can enter through the opening above the canyon, creating beams of light around the falling water. The effect depends on the weather and the position of the sun, so seeing the light rays is not guaranteed on every visit. Current visitor information reports admission at around Rp35,000.

7. Leke Leke Waterfall: A Green Hideaway in Tabanan

Leke Leke is tucked away in Mekarsari Village, Baturiti, Tabanan, offering a more intimate waterfall setting than Bali's larger and busier attractions. The waterfall is narrow and tall, dropping into a small green cove surrounded by dense vegetation. Indonesia Travel describes the walk to the waterfall as approximately 500 metres through gardens and greenery.

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism's current tourism database lists Leke Leke as open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with an entrance fee of Rp50,000. The site also has basic visitor facilities, including parking, toilets, an information centre, and food and drink services.

8. Nungnung Waterfall: Take on the Steps for a Powerful Cascade

Nungnung is located in Pelaga Village, Petang, Badung, around 50 metres high and surrounded by dense tropical vegetation. Its substantial water flow makes it one of the more dramatic waterfall stops on this list.

The catch is the access. Reaching the waterfall base means descending hundreds of steps from the parking area, which also means saving enough energy for the climb back up. A current Pelaga tourism listing reports opening hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and an admission price of around Rp30,000, although the site notes that the price is based on visitor reports rather than official confirmation.
