Getting to Know Carey Island

Despite the name, Carey Island is not exactly an island. It is situated to the south of Port Klang and the north of Banting town. From Selangor mainland, Carey Island is separated by the Langat River (and not an ocean).

Pulau Carey (Carey Island) is named after Edward Valentine John Carey, an English planter and British civil service officer who bought the land from the Sultan of Selangor in the early 1900s to start commercial plantations.

Carey Island is a famous travel destination amongst local travelers, renowned by its famous Mah Meri Cultural Village, Amverton Cove Golf, and of course delicious seafood restaurants in the area. From Klang town centre, Carey Island is located only 35 km away.
