Kanching Rainforest Waterfall, also commonly known as Kanching Eco Forest Park (Taman Eko Rimba Kanching), is situated within a protected forest area spanning nearly 500 hectares in Rawang, approximately 35 km or about a 40-50 minute drive from downtown Kuala Lumpur.

What makes Kanching special is not only the number of waterfalls, but also the fact that this area remains one of the few protected lowland dipterocarp forests in the Klang Valley. 

As soon as you pass through the park’s gate, the urban atmosphere is instantly replaced by cooler air, towering trees, and the soothing sound of flowing water. This area has even been recognized as one of the geosites within the Gombak-Hulu Langat Geopark due to its natural heritage and aesthetic value.

Walking through this area feels like stepping into another world. The dense tree canopy, ferns and moss adorning the rocks, and the sounds of birds and insects create an authentic tropical forest experience. It’s truly something that’s becoming increasingly rare to find this close to a major city.

The total height of this waterfall reaches approximately 120-200 meters when measured from the first level to the seventh. The higher the level, the more dramatic the view, but the more challenging the trail becomes.

Kanching Rainforest Waterfall, also known as Taman Eko Rimba Kanching or Kanching Eco Forest Park, is located at Kilometer 17, off Jalan Rawang, Templer Baiduri, 48000 Rawang, Selangor, Malaysia.

From Kuala Lumpur, the easiest option is to take the Rawang Expressway (Route 1), which is an extension of Jalan Ipoh, toward Rawang. The park will be visible on the right side of the road, not far past the Templer Country Club. 

Another alternative is to take the Damansara, Puchong Expressway (LDP) toward Bandar Baru Selayang, then follow the signs for “Hutan Lipur Kanching” before arriving in Rawang.

Unfortunately, there is no direct public transportation to Kanching. The closest option is to take the KTM to Rawang Station, then continue by Grab or taxi for about 10 minutes to the location.

The park is open daily, generally from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or until 6:00 PM. Admission fees are very affordable for both local and international tourists.

Parking: Approximately RM2–5 per vehicle.

It’s best to arrive early, especially on weekends or holidays, as the parking lot fills up quickly.
