It's in a very good location, not very busy but not quiet. Very close to the Yarra River, there are even rooms with the Yarra River view. The room is clean, cozy, comfortable. The breakfast menu is prodigious.

All the staff we met were extremely gracious and helpful. The room was a very good size with a huge bathroom. I don’t know if perhaps our room was an accessible one (which we did not require) but the sink was very low. Nice selection on the breakfast buffet which seems to cater for most if not all. My only issue with the buffet was that there was only one person making the omelettes and the line was very long. Too long to wait while your toast and coffee get cold, so I moved on to the poached eggs. No wait there.

Lovely hotel with very nice front of house staff, has slipped since previous visits, the bar area had run out of some basics which you would not expect at a 5* hotel, my father was unable to get either an Apple or orange juice as they had run out, also ran out of one of the main meals, seemed to be running on a reduced service but not a reduced price to match!

The Langham Melbourne has tremendous potential. It clearly aims to capture the elegance and charm of a classic English hotel, but for me, the overall experience didn’t quite come together. Pros: The doorman and the receptionist at check-in were genuinely warm and welcoming, setting a positive first impression. The dining menu also offered a good variety of options, with something for most tastes. Cons: While the individual elements are there, the hotel struggles to create a cohesive, memorable atmosphere. Throughout my stay, it felt more like a hotel designed for business travelers than a luxury retreat. It lacked the warmth and inviting ambiance I was hoping for. From the lobby to the restaurant, the environment reminded me more of an average cruise ship than a refined five-star hotel. The constant pacing of staff and the clanging of dishes and utensils made the common areas feel busy rather than relaxing. The spa and pool area also missed the opportunity to create a true sanctuary. I believe The Langham could elevate the guest experience by leaning further into its English-inspired character. Imagine an atmosphere where guests naturally want to curl up by a fireplace in a plush robe, sipping a dirty chai latte while escaping the outside world. That sense of comfort and exclusivity is what feels missing. Dear Langham—bring together the beautiful floral arrangements, classic English furnishings, and charming rotary phones into a more cohesive, luxurious experience.
