This hotel was great for the price. Only issue was having a hard time getting a taxi from here and the front desk wasn't very helpful with getting one.

The Xinhui hotel is an excellent Chinese style hotel. By Chinese style, I mean that you should expect as rather firm mattress, which local belief holds to be more healthy, and that the decor may not be what you expect from a more internationally styled hotel. Also, since this is not a high rise in the increasingly vertical megalopolis of Shanghai, do not expect a grand vista from your window. But, the hotel staff is very friendly, even if your Mandarin is as bad as mine and presumably if you speak none at all. The rooms are completely clean. Everything is above board. And you can't beat the price. Plus it is in a rather interesting artsy area, not far from the excellent Shanghai Metro. It is also about a block's walk from a true local food market where I dare you to find another tourist.

The hotel was acceptable, decent location but a little bit far from the subway station. Really awful smoke smell at night. Competent staff, restaurant is mediocre but hotel is next to a nice little quick eats place. Wish the hotel had better wifi connection. Very clean. Hotel hallways not airconditioned.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone over six feet tall or anyone on the very hefty side... But for me, as a short petite woman, the hotel room was perfectly designed for me and I didn't even need to stand on my tip toes to reach anything for once! I loved it, the location is good and the staff are very friendly. Lovely hot showers too! The staff is far from fluent in English, as long as you're prepared for that you'll be fine. Translating apps are really advanced nowadays anyway. Really close to convenience stores and a lot of street vendors selling food, plus the walk to the subway isn't bad at all. Oh, and the bed is as hard as a rock, which is to be expected if you're going to a hotel that's designed for Chinese tourists... I had a small piece of carry on luggage that fit the room fine, and there's a small mirror/closet that can hold a few clothing items if you have clothes that need to be hung up.

It is handy to get into subway. People at reception were very helpful. Single bed was quite comfortable, but the cigarette smell was terrible in the room. If you are a smoker, it might be OK, otherwise it is not recommended.

Room was clean and secure, if small. Bed was comfortable enough if u dont mind firmness. Staff don't speak much english so having some mandarin is an advantage. Area doesnt have much to offer if you are looking for a coffee or a beer. The stadium complex nearby is the only place i found to get both but beware the traffic and follow the locals lead. Plenty of street food and local life around on nearby streets. 5 minutes walk south will take you to Longyan memorial park which is well worth a visit in the morning when the locals are all out doing taichi and playing badminton. Cant complain at all for £20, awesome value for a bed and a shower.
