This retro style hotel is very dated and looks tired , the staff were friendly, the hotel is very close to the rail station so noise from railway is frequently heard but ear plugs are provided.

Room has no phone, limited TV stations and no A/C. Opened windows for some ventilation, but property is next to the metro station so was very loud all night. The shower stall had mold growth.

The Astoria is a historic hotel dating to 1935, and is a listed historic building. As such it is not a modern hotel with modern luxury and design features. If you can look beyond this then you'll enjoy the Astoria. If not look elsewhere. The location is perfect, right next to the central station - it was built for the railway for conductors to stay in. It has some art deco features as a result. It's location does mean there is some external noise at night; the windows are fine and ear plugs are provided. Our room - standard double - was fine. Small due to age, and the listed features do show their age. The bathroom was fine but again features are of their time. The included buffer breakfast is fine - sausage, eggs, beans, cold meat & cheese, pancakes, pastries etc. - and served in the original dining room. In summary.....it's fine, but don't expect modern luxury or design.

Conveniently located. Good breakfast buffet. Noisy street outside. Room was a bit musty when I arrived, but windows open and there is a fan provided which removed the musty smell.

This hotel is right outside the central train station, so if you’re traveling with luggage it makes it very easy having to walk very far to get to your room. If you will be using the train of the metro to see the city this also makes it very convenient having the train and metro stations so close. The free breakfast is a bonus also.

The staff were all very kind and accommodating. The rooms are with out AC but have a fan. Closing the curtains during the day helped to keep the room cooler. Only offered tea in the room, but coffee was available in the lobby. My TV did not work and I was moved to a new room. The TV stopped working in that room the next day. The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to wherever you are heading. The room was cozy and met my needs. Besides the TV issues, I’d stay there again.
