Duty manager Helen was very helpful, friendly and understanding. My partner struggles to walk. She uses a frame. Helen assisted her with entry and exit. As the main entrance has stairs no ramp. Helen made our stay a very positive experience. We will definitely be returning to the Adelphi, Liverpool.

Did not like anything about this hotel. Check in was a bit cold and robotic. The room was in bad need of repairs. There is no A/C so they gave us a small fan which helped a little. UK in the middle of a heatwave so A/C would have been nice. The overall appearance of the room was so very rundown and not taken care of at all. A few holes and the sink taps were literally not attached so we had to hold onto the whole thing so it would come off completely. Needs a very good paint refresh and beds and pillows were so hard. The outside of the hotel didn’t feel very safe and there are homeless begging for money right at the hotel door. We were booked for 2 nights but stayed only one. The room was postage stamp small so very stuffy as well and window only opened literally a crack. Such a huge disappointment. Can’t understand the reviews that are very good…maybe they have some good rooms?? We travel a lot and are not overly fussy but this was not acceptable. This is a true honest review. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our room was very comfortable and clean. It is just such a shame that this beautiful and iconic hotel has dropped their standards. The hotel was understaffed on reception and in the dining room. The general cleanliness was lacking.

To call this hotel a bit tired would be a compliment. Completely exhausted is more appropriate. Shabby, grubby and pokey rooms which for £130 a night is truly disappointing. The shower either burnt my skin off or caused hypothermia regardless of how carefully the dial was adjusted. There were virtually no basic equipment , not even a hairdryer which was really annoying when I was going to my daughters graduation. The room was also boiling hot and the rusty window only opened a fraction. The only positive is the location which was very central and next to Mount Pleasant car park which is reasonably priced.

We had a great welcome from the front desk, very knowledgeable about the building and some of it's history. We loved exploring this hotel, the grandeur of the big hall's and ball room's, were amazing, so elegant and have that "WOW", it was great to explore. The only thing letting it down was the room we stayed in. The decor is tired and could do with a revamp, one window opened, but the other would not open . However the room was clean and did have everything we needed, including a fan for this hot weather. ...... and we slept well. What a lovely stay..... Thank you

The stay was for a stag weekend and is ideally placed for all local attractions, pubs, restaurants etc... However, it is in need of a serious refurbishment, as the rooms are tired, a bit shabby in parts and no air-conditioning, so was very hot even with the fan provided. All plug sockets were at one end of the room and the sleeping area had none, so fan wasn't very effective at night. There is no way this hotel is a £110 per night, which was £50 cheaper than they quoted direct. Maybe £75 at best. But we all had a great time regardless.

I’m sorry to say that I would not recommend this place. It was a sweltering summer day, there is no air con, which I appreciate they can’t help, and there was a fan in my bedroom and I could open the window. This place is right in town and it’s an old building so I recommend you bring ear plugs as the Irish bar across the road is extremely loud even with the windows closed. There were also quite a lot of drunk people and people literally passed out on the street nearby, so it felt quite sketchy. They had a nice security person on the hotel entrance at night though. The vibe was quite weird including the staff’s demeanour and the breakfast was the worst I’ve ever had in a hotel. Definitely not worth the extra £11.95 I paid for it. I requested a milk alternative for my room so I could have a coffee in the morning as I don’t drink cow’s milk, and after some back and forth they couldn’t arrange this. So I went down to breakfast for coffee, which was the worst coffee I’ve ever had and did t drink it. The room itself smelled quite fusty. It’s looked clean, although it was so hot that I spelt on top of the duvet with my feet under the bed runner and I had bites on my feet in the morning. The towels in the bathroom stank of cigarette smoke and despite the temperature being upwards of 30°c that day, the radiator in the bathroom was on fun with no way to switch it off. Safe to say I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be going back.

Awful hotel, completely outdated. Is like something from the Adam’s Family. Small double beds with single pillows on the bed, mouldy walls, small fan provided to cool the rooms in the hottest day of the year.

I’ve known this place to have quite a bad reputation and not great reviews but I thought it was lovely. The building itself it’s nice and classic old with high ceilings and wide corridors. My room was slightly dusty but altogether was very clean my room also had a bath which is always a bonus for me in hotel! Reasonably priced and I didn’t eat any food but the restaurants smelled really good

This has been a beautiful old hotel. With many origional features. However needs some TLC. Desperate for some money spent on it. Britania who owns it won't spend a penny. Its a shame they refuse to sell to the city of liverpool and allow them the chance to restore this building !

Although now a slightly faded glory, this is still my favourite hotel in Liverpool. Right near the centre, and an easy walk from Lime Street station. The rooms are large, and the grand salon is magnificent. Far fewer staff now, but friendly and helpful.

We were booked in by a very unfriendly Oskar which wasn't a great start. Our room was very stuffy even with the window open all night. We were right next to the lift and so there was a constant rumbling. The shower had two temperatures, ice cold or scalding hot!! When I opened the kettle to make a cup of tea there was a dead moth at the bottom. It took them 2 hours to replace it. We left our luggage in storage the following day and when we collected it we were served by an even more miserable Oskar. I think Oskar needs some basic training on good manners if he wants to work in hospitality! This is honestly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
