A revisit to a favourite hotel from many years ago. Not much has changed. Maybe a little quieter in the hotel but the hotel facilities are excellent and with sunny weather a little extra paid for a balcony room overseeing Shell Bay was good value.

The hotel room with a sea view was great. We loved sitting on our balcony watching the boats go by and going to sleep with the sound of the washes. The hotel was in an excellent location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food in restaurant was superb.

Great location. A bit run down. I was expecting to see Basil Fawlty and Cybil any moment. Lovely to take an old school break. Nice food. Wonderful views of Poole harbour.

Staff were pleasant and managed to helpfully accomodate our early check-in which was much appreciated. But sadly, we were let down by the facilities. The room we were allocated is not accessible by lift. We had help with our bags to the room which was wonderful but did have to struggle down with them. The room was not air conditioned, the beds were ever so soft and there was quite a bit of noise in the early hours (not sure if it was maintenance, deliveries or kitchen) so sleep was not the best. The bathroom had no walk in shower, rather an overbath one - not great when you have back and sciatica problems. There was also some maintenance and modernisation needed - chipped bath soap dish and broken window stay wire. Elsewhere around the hotel lobbies, decoration was needed. Breakfast was sadly a let down for us. It was a buffet and by the time we came down, there were a few slices of uninviting basic slices of bread and fruit and full English breakfast items that had been pawed over by guests who'd come down earlier. So my friend had weetabix with the last bits of milk that was no longer icy cold and I had a muesli with a pot of yoghurt which was nice. I also requested a glass of orange juice as the breakfast juices had finished. The friendly staff member obliged. We didnt venture to the spa or pool during our overnight stay. All in all, lovely staff, beautiful location but extremely poor value for money and a little grotty

Their idea of a room with courtyard view leaves a lot to the imagination. In reality it was a staircase and white brick wall less than a metre from both room windows. Very dark and dingy. Constant smell of cooking from extractor close to window. Bathroom plug allowed water escape, blown lightbulbs making an already dark room very dark. Spoke to staff and nothing was rectified. Very disappointed. .

Hotel very old and tired. Room over looked the court yard which is very noisy due to regular glass recycling. Outdoor pool to hot to swim in. Hotel in a lovely area with beautiful views.

I booked this hotel through the online agent Hotel.com £439 for 2 nights. I agreed via the hotel direct to pay £70 a night for a balcony upgrade, of which they took payment for the £140 on arrival. After checkout, I was a few miles away, when I had a phone call saying they hadn’t taken payment for the £439. And wanted to charge me £579, which is not what the booking platform said. So I had to be inconvenienced by the fact, the staff couldn’t check at ‘check out’ that the room wasn’t paid for. (I assumed the platform took funds!?) It was £439 for 2 nights according to the platform, but the hotel said I had to pay £579. A guy at reception thought he read on Hotel.com that the extra was for service charges and tax etc. Well the hotel did NOT provide room service during my stay (may I add that i ended up coming alone to the hotel, because my partners mother was hospitalised and I was unable to cancel the reservation - harsh in reality!!), therefore room service would of meant the world to me, when I’m not a very confident person. The hotel was ok, but very dated, the balcony upgrade was had good views. But was very ‘dismal’.. no character, or charm about it. Just some awful garden furniture, and quite miserable to be sit on if I’m honest. Nice views, but nothing to feel excited about. I wouldn’t stay here again because of the lack of knowledge from hotel staff. The reception girl claiming she was in training as to why they didn’t take my payment. You need training for that?

We used two bedrooms during our stay and neither had wi-fi working. Breakfast was chaotic with guests waiting for clean crockery etc. to arrive etc. The leisure facilities are good and the views from sea facing rooms are excellent.

Amazing location, just what was required with temperatures hitting 35 degrees! Room was comfy, buffet breakfast was good with a good varied choice. Amazing views. Pool area & direct access to beach were a big plus. Only downside was the constant slamming of the door from the room next door at all sorts of times in the night but we tried to not let this ruin our short stay here.

Great location. Good reception. Great food. Room great apart from view out of window. Could not use pool etc as was not advised there was staff training so not open in the afternoon. Only knew staff training when I had got ready and gone down to a notice on the door to enter. Times of pools opening times did not match online to inside times, so never got to visit.

The hotel has great views, but the hotel needs some updating. The bathroom was tired looking the bath is very small and lots of mildew around the bath. The sink tap leaked the whole time. The Gym - most of the cardio machine were out of order.
