Past it sell by date and in need of real attention. Plus poor bar service due to lack of staff. Frankly over priced which is such a pity. Tissue box by bed contained one folded tissue yes just the one!

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel, situated in a remarkably quiet area, just a 30-minute drive from the historic town of Melford. Our Large Principal Double, featuring exposed old beams and a dome-like ceiling, was tastefully decorated and had a generous, very comfortable bed. The service was both professional and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious and beautifully presented dinner and breakfast.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the beauty and charm of this hotel. Every detail feels exquisite, like stepping back in time in the most luxurious way. The service was outstanding—warm, attentive, and truly thoughtful. The food was exceptional, with high-quality ingredients and beautifully prepared dishes. Our room was peaceful and quiet, the bed incredibly comfortable, and breakfast each morning was a real treat—absolutely delicious. One of our favourite spots was the library, where we enjoyed playing games together in such a cosy atmosphere. We noticed they even light a fire there in the winter, which must be magical. We also took a romantic walk around the grounds, which were stunning and serene. Honestly, we couldn’t fault a single thing. Every part of our stay was perfect. We can’t wait to come back.

Our room and the hotel were very good and comfortable. The food menus and descriptions were excellent but the food was very poor and didn’t come up to expectations from the menu, or the price- very disappointing.

An amazing old building, very British hotel, with very friendly staff, if I'm honest, it was all a bit stuffy for me, but if you like that kind of thing, you will like it!

Excellent stay..friendly welcome & most professional service. Lovely 'Large Superior" room and a quality but somewhat pricey dinner. Log fires in the lounges and surrounded by beautiful & historic art and furniture. Would highly recommend fot a short Winter break.

Hintlesham Hall was an extravagance for us, but worth every penny. We stayed in a very large room in the stable block with a sofa and easy chair. The service in the hotel was excellent, attentive (but not too much!) Breakfasts were good and the dinners excellent - consistently good food across the menu - three of us ate three dinners and everything we chose was beautifully cooked and presented. The grounds are lovely, and it would be great to sit outside at a warmer time of year. There were several lovely rooms to sit indoors, though. The afternoon teas looked delicious, but as we had eaten so well at breakfast we enjoyed delicious tea and scones to tide us over until dinner. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

A beautiful period building in a beautiful location. Furnishing and decor sympathetically in keeping with the period in history. The welcome was warm and friendly. The bedroom was well equipped and comfortable although the provision of toiletries was minimal for a stay of more than one day/night. A hair dryer was provided but not situated conveniently to an electrical socket. One of the radiators had been leaking making the carpet wet which not pleasant underfoot. When this was pointed out a space heater was placed in the room however this was non-functional. In the dining room the dinner was, on the whole, tasty and beautifully presented. When the waiting staff were asked specifics about the dishes they were ill-informed, saying either, 'I don't like the particular item' or, I don't know the composition' of certain dishes ! Items which had been ordered had been forgotten therefore the staff had to be reminded. The halibut was overcooked and quite dry. At breakfast the fruit was, disappointingly, not fresh. The pancakes and scrambled eggs were barely warm, the eggs delivered swiftly as if it had been already cooked and held in that state. Also tasting as if produced from dried, or similar, egg. It was definitely not made from freshly cracked eggs. One of the most delightful features of our stay was the wonderful gentle piano playing, by the lady in the entrance conservatory. I am bound to say that, having read the rating, I was expecting more attention to detail.

Great selection of tea/coffee. The bedroom was amazing very spacious plenty of storage. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious and it was good to have the choice of a bath or shower. The grounds were lovely.
