Stay Hotel

We arrived late evening after a wedding, the night porter was really helpful. I was asked for a further £100 insurance charge, we stayed on the Saturday night and this was not refunded to my account until Wednesday, 4 days later is unacceptable. This should have been refunded as soon as housekeeping had checked the room. There was a deduction of £3.80 with no explanation. We were looking forward to a good night sleep and a nice breakfast. I had booked two superior rooms but there was nothing superior about our bathroom, the toilet was ridiculously close to the corner and you had to squeeze in to be able to sit down. The room was clean and the bed was comfy but the room did have a strange smell. I think it was cleaning products, not hing I have experienced before. We were the first down to breakfast because we had to leave early, the girl served us 4 tea’s and we were invited to help ourselves to cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast or crumpets. That was it! I would not have paid for breakfast if I had known we would not get the option of an English breakfast. I appreciate as a Muslim run hotel certain foods would not be available but this should have been made clear when booking. I would not choose to stay at The Stay Hotel again it was not good value for money at all.

Only 6 parking Spaces for the hotel and difficult to drive around the hotel. Car park next to hotel so additional cost if you can’t find a spot. The hotel is new looking but needs maintenance. Very hot without Aircon.. fan was provided but not enough. Toilet seat falling off. Shower door handle wobbling. Shower needs a good clean as dirty on edges. Breakfast was very expensive for continental. Had to ask if hot food was provided. Eggs were offered and that was nice.

Clean room and decorated really well but sharp and direct staff upon entry. No restaurant despite advertised as such, It is now only open until 4 as it only serves brunch. Walls paper thin, rooms tiny and breakfast was very bad. Cooked breakfast available but poor choice and only chicken sausages and turkey bacon. No turkey bacon available, no avocado available, no mushrooms available. Poached eggs were full of water when cut open Just a bit a great experience. Looks nice at first glance but peel back the layers and it’s not very good at all.

Excellent location. Parking is limited but a good addition.

The breakfast was extensive, including american pancakes. All the staff were super helpful and nothing was a bother. The heating needs properly sorted but we were fine as we were given a fan heater.

Very clean and polite on reception. I stayed in a disabled room. The main issue was the bathroom, no mirror, no storage or shelf space for toiletries. Walls paper thin so you could hear word for word what the neighbouring room were saying. Doors banged for quite a while.

Cosy room. Wonderful staff, everyone I met was impressive and lovely.

No way to adjust heating, radiator was on full heat and made room far to hot

Lovely clean rooms and bathroom. Friendly staff. Breakfast was cooked to order and pleasant enough but had to wait a long time. Parking limited but felt very secure. Would stay again - good value.

Last time as there I paid 78 For my room including breakfast. This time because that room type was unavailable I agreed an upgraded room for £122 then at check in they had the audacity to ask for another £15 for breakfast when it should have been complimentary. On top of this the shower did not work at all and I hand to hand wash myself. Altogether a terrible stay and I will never stay there again.

Breakfast felt a bit underwhelming compared to other standard hotels

We stayed two nights - we had a front room which was noisy both mornings with outside traffic/people speaking - secondary double glazing would help. The room was nice - bathroom same but no towel rails. Second night we were both awake at 2:30 with repeated water dripping internally above the wardrobe. Reception said they thought the issue had been fixed and offered us to move to another room. I would like to return (family stay in Huddersfield) but not getting my £50 deposit returned since we left on Monday (this is Friday) is worrying. I called direct and they said to call my bank? We paid using Visa - I can't understand why they are holding onto our money.

Decent city centre hotel, next door to a great pub. The room was clean, tidy and spacious. The only slight downside was the bathroom had a radiator directly infront of the toilet which made it tight for space.

The shower was very hard to use. I would recommend he hotel replace the shower taps in room 201

Good location, ideal for a short stay. Room wasn’t clean on arrival but staff were accommodating to change rooms. Parking was limited and was based on a first come basis.
