What Guests Say About Their Stay

Nice older hotel with an art deco vibe. Rooms on the smaller side, to be expected given this is a 'vintage' building , but perfectly comfortable and clean. Two restaurants and a bar, one serving Indian style food as well as typical British . At the price, this hotel ticks all the boxes, and the location is great, walkable to Soho, Bloomsbury , British Museum, theatres etc.

So many positive things to say about our stay at the Tavistock Hotel. The room was the perfect size, and upon arrival, not only were we greeted promptly, but able to check-in early, which was a massive plus after coming from an overnight flight. Staff was great, and the area around it is easy to navigate and felt safe the entire time. Having a restaurant attached and plenty of options near by made it a great plus as well. Within a 5-10 min walk to underground stations and about a 20 min walk from Soho.

The room was fine but they neglect to tell you that you are staying over a bowling alley/club that stays open until 3am and then another hour when the people who had hired it were in the street waiting for their rides home. So great location but no good if you want any sleep.

We had a king-sized bed in a room overlooking Tavistock Square and it was great for all we needed. Walk-in shower and bathroom was ideal for us, and it was easy to get to and from the room. TV options were great - all the channels, plus catch up and YouTube. Perfect for a busy stay! Bed was big and comfortable and it was good to have a table and chairs by the window. Free wifi good. I've seen other reviews complain about noise from the 'park side' but it was fine for us - some sirens, some loud engines and a bit of shouting but nothing disruptive and part of what you'd get in the city. The hotel is a 20-minute walk to the West End, so handy for shows and if you want to go further afield Euston Station is very near and there are constant buses. Tube stations are a little further away. Lots of places to eat and shop near by. Great to have a radiator rather than noisy aircon or fans but couldn't adjust it, so room did get very hot at times, even in depth of winter. Parked underneath Royal National Hotel, which gave peace-of-mind but it's a bit of a labyrinth and a trek to walk in and out but driving in from M6 was simple. Be aware hotel locks doors at 11pm, although you can still get in. We did breakfast on final day and it was a decent spread but quite meat-based so vegetarians might be better finding a (cheaper) Wetherspoons a few blocks away.

So the room was pretty shabby, no heating to start and very small and dated. Staff were friendly though. We had booked for breakfast but on arrival found that there was no record of this. Contacted Expedia several times but useless support and no acknowledgement. I would be reluctant to use this platform again.

Could have used a picture on the wall. Felt dorm like. Gets alittle loud downstairs on the weekends. Location great. Staff fairly friendly.
