There were a lot of stairs to negotiate in the building, but because of the age of the building, understandable.

Room 218 is much too hot to stay in. The outside temperature was 21 degrees during our stay so not hot but the room was like a sauna. The portable air-con unit (even when filled with ice) blew out hot air and windows didn't open for any air. When we complained the hotel was full so we couldn't be moved but the man who spoke to us from reception put the phone down on us (yes, we were annoyed when speaking to him but not rude or disrespectful in anyway). We have seen various reviews online that say the same as us so this room should not be sold if it is this hot. (I dread to think what it's like when its 30degrees outside!!!) We were unable to relax in the room at all and got no sleep. The noise from the pub across the road was ridiculous too. People staying in this room should be informed that the noise is that bad, I know it's a city centre but never before have we stayed in a city centre hotel with such bad noise. The heat and noise combination meant we got about 1 hours sleep. We were given a 50% refund on check out but still resentful as it completely ruined our weekend (my husband had a big cycling event the next day which he needed to be well rested for but obviously wasn't).

un-expected disappointment, Servicing of rooms not complete(coffee sugar, milk not replaced),towels left on floor, reception did not relay messages. However the food was good. Location good. BUT-being in the city centre lots of noise from clubs bars loud music and voices uptil after 12 midnight.

Second time stay at this lovely hotel which is adjacent to Norwich Cathedral. Great breakfast, pricey evening meals mitigated by two restaurants less than 3 minutes walk away. Lots of stairs to contend with, visitors should be warned.

The hotel was totally unique. Our room was excellent with all the mod cons one would expect to see in a hotel room. The communal areas were very inviting. The breakfast was very good offering a bit of everything. All the staff we had dealings with were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is situated in a prime position right by the cathedral. The castle, museum, shopping and restaurants and bars are all within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Fantastic experience at the Maid's Head Hotel. We arrived at 1pm to drop off a bag and the receptionist allowed us to check in early and showed us to the room. The room was beautiful, filled with beams and a view of the cathedral. Drink at the bar was very nice. Buffet breakfast was the best we have had, local produce and cooked very well. Service throughout our stay was superb
