A grand place with very polite staff. Breakfast was very nice with many different options. Parking is easy and the leisure facilities were perfect for after work. The one evening meal I tried was very nice although the portion size was a little small for the price, the bar is a tad expensive also. Regardless I've booked another stay for work. Great place.

The hotel itself was lovely but a little tired decor wise. The bedroom was well enough equipped and the bed was actually really comfy. The staff were friendly and accomodating, and the food was lovely. The leisure club adjoined to the hotel was a nice extra, and the jacuzzi and sauna were lovely and well worth the 5 or 7 pound entry (dependant on weekday or weekend) Would happily stay again as overall it was value for money and situated within easy reach of local transport routes.

Look at the cleanliness reviews before, this hotel Where do I start? Well booked a 3 night stay online a "so called Luxury Room" ( not luxury in any way ) well the room when entered was filthy and it is not like service filth but aged filth, Bathroom full of limescale , Taps, Bath, Shower screen. All skirting boards and white doors absolutely riddled with dirt. Dust over desks and tv Bed was broken and at a slant. Carpet are badly stained. Furniture broken and ripped I refused to sleep in the room or even stay stay at the hotel, and asked for a refund as I was not going to be staying in there, its been over a week now and not had any issue of a refund so I will be taking this further and onto legal this is not acceptable level of service. Claire on the reception who I walked around the room and also was taking pictures on all the issue's and totally agreed with the on condition of the room, My recommendation is check the room it you are staying here before you pay!! When I see the reviews left by other reviewers I am not the only one so there is a pattern in regards to this hotel.

Found this hotel by chance by doing a search online of available hotels in the area. Loved the old fashioned charm of the maze of corridors and going up and down steps. Reception staff were very helpful when asked where to go in the area. On the cons. The TV remote did not work, and they tried spare batteries but that did not help so had to use the buttons on the side. There is a garden that backed onto out room and they kept chickens and a cockerels and every morning it started crowing long before it got light. It was so loud that I could hear it even when all the windows were shut.

They have swimming that used to be in the price payed to use now they charge £5 to use All rooms to get to have a mountain of stairs with no lift to help disabled people some carpets in halls are terrible there dirty and trip able as not secured down. The room we were in was incredibly hot all times and so dusty unbelievable the breakfast wasn't worth the money I had cooked full English it was poor greasy did not taste fresh at all the amount that was given was enough for a young child in the dining area it looked like it needed a deep clean curtains were filthy the floor was filthy and sticky all grime everywhere wasn't worth the money. We also bought the dog and when booked they told us one price to then be told when we got there that it was double the price and we had to pay it instead of original price. Also it's no longer a lavinda hotel but notice that they were still addvitising that they still did the lavinda the whole hotel needs to be updated and deep cleaned and proper fitted carpets and a use of a lift not forgetting they need to restrain on how to cook a full english

We needed to move rooms because ours was full of dust all over the wallpaper and the curtains which set my husbands asthma off. We were moved to a room with a cold shower. We weren't informed that the policy had changed and the spa was no longer included in the stay. The only positive from our stay was that all the staff were friendly.

Lovely check in, really pleasant staff at the hotel however the ‘ kingsize’ bed was 2 singles that zipped up in the middle, every time we moved, we rolled into the dip so had an awful night sleep. Did explain this at check out, the lovely young lady apologised which was kind but we wouldn’t stay here again in a kingsize bedroom

The room we stayed in was clean. The view we had was of a brick wall! The bed was comfortable however the room/ hotel was far too warm. The bathroom was ok however the shower was poor not much more than a dribble. The public areas were decent, however the rest of the hotel was tired and in need of a substantial upgrade and modernisation

No towels in the room on arrival. Couldn’t call reception as no phone in the room so quite a trek up and down stairs to reception. Continental breakfast - no croissants, no fruit even though menu listed them. Arrived back from a day out to find bin emptied but nothing else had been done in the room. Very disappointed.
