Easy check in. Cute, but no frills room. Everything I needed and nothing I didn't. Comfortable bed and bedding. Good wi-fi. TV. The shower didn't work perfectly - water shoots from the button to switch between the above shower head and the handheld shower. But it worked well enough. Breakfast had plenty of choices. Everything was just right for a single person, single night stay.

One of the very cheapest hotels in Koln, I wasn't expecting too much, especially after reading some negative reviews. But for a place just to sleep for a couple of days this was excellent. Central location but quiet. Brand new decorations throughout, spotlessly clean and a more than adequate breakfast. Room is small but enough room to sleep, sit, watch to, get changed and check emails via the rooms free wi-fi. For the price (40euros) it can't be bettered.

Very close to the Cathedral and train station within one block. In the middle of all of the restaurants and historic area. No staff really on site, a desk clerk for a few hours but nothing needed, the instructions are clear and they contacted me before our arrival. Our room was quite large with an upstairs loft!

Not clean, uncomfortable and loud. Also, be aware the front office is only open 2-6pm, so you can't check in any other time or leave your luggage. Pay a little bit more to stay elsewhere!

Room was very small and had an unpleasant smell. Could have done with the windows being left open for a while. I wasn't able to get the TV to work - there were two remotes and maybe a set top box or something but no instructions. It didn't bother me unduly Good location in the heart of the old town with plenty of bars and restaurants very close by. It's a nicely furnished room in a very simple style but there's no getting away from it being such a small room even for a single. There's no fridge or microwave and no kettle or tea coffee making facilities. There's a clean drinking glass in the room but nothing to drink. A bottle of water by the glass would have been welcome. Half a dozen or so power sockets (none with usb) for charging devices and the WiFi seemed pretty good as well

Great hotel, perfect location, very nice accommodations. Only downside was minimal airflow, so the room was pretty warm. Although, this seems pretty common throughout most hotels we stayed at in Germany. Overall, great experience!

Stayed here for 2 nights during a work trip. The hotel has clearly just been renovated and looks well. It's clean and modern. However, the granite floors and lack of any soft furnishings in the corridors, along with thin doors and walls means that every noise made by guests resonates through the hotel and can be heard in your room. Friends talking in the corridor really do sound like they're in your room and doors closing sound like a medium size firework going off! The noise died down around 1am and started again at 6am as people left early. If you're a light sleeper, the noise is torture.... I will not stay here again because it's impossible to sleep. The hotel lacks facilities for guests. I arrived after 6pm, so had to let myself in the side door (not an issue), but the only thing I could then get to drink was tap water from the bathroom. I went for breakfast at 8am (starts at 7:30) to find the room locked. I left at 9am and it was still locked, so If I wanted more than a glass of water between 6pm and 9am, I had to forage through the city. That's not acceptable for the price I paid for the room. Breakfast was available on day 2 (no explanation about day 1) - it's basic, but OK. Staff: I can't rate them, because I only saw 1 person behind reception for a few seconds when I went for breakfast - no idea what she looked like. I left my key on the empty reception when I checked out. Summary: stay somewhere else if you want to sleep, or have a coffee in your room.

Bürgerhofhotel is very conveniently placed, within ten minutes walking distance from the station and most of the major museums that are clustered around the Dom. There are plenty of eating places in the nearby squares. The hotel was quiet in terms of traffic noise, because the street was closed during our stay (in September 2017) while the building of a new museum takes place near the old Rathaus. Consequently there was some building noise during the day. The room was very clean and those at the top, in the front of the hotel had a partial view of the Dom and the old Rathaus. Be aware that there is no lift/elevator, so the winding stairs are the only option, and there might not be any staff to assist with luggage. The reception/dining area has hotel staff available only at certain times of the day. Morning, for breakfast and check-out, then afternoon during the check-in times 14:00 - 18:00. Otherwise staff can be contacted by phone or email. Guests are given a key to enter the hotel at other times. Be aware that if you arrive late morning with luggage, you won't be able to access the hotel until 14:00. Breakfast was continental style and fairly basic - bread rolls only, and no hot food.

Typical German business hotel - strictly bed & breakfast without frills. In a good location close to the railway station and the bars and restaurants in Altstadt. Reception closes at 18:00 after which access is by code which they send you by email at 16:00. I arrived at 19:30 - you need to carry a smart phone to collect the instructions. There is no lift. My room was on third floor so I was glad to have only a small overnight bag to carry up three fights of stairs. Overall it was comfortable and served my purpose.

Hotel is an eclectic conundrum. Location is excellent, service not so much. The room is very small and spartan, but it is clean, the bed is comfy, and most all of the furnishings seem new. They do not provide bar soap though. Checking in is only from 2-6PM if you arrive late, as I did, then you must call the emergency number and/or ring the bell to enter. There is no elevator so be ready to carry your bags upstairs. The breakfast was much better than I expected with lots of traditional choices. The location of the hotel is walking distance to the Hohe market area, pubs, restaurants, the Cathedral, Ludwig, Roman, and other museums, and to the Rhine river.

This Hotel confused me. On arriving from a long international flight of 26 hours I made a simple request for an Iron to press my clothes for the conference I was attending. The request was met with a very stern “NO we don’t have”. Thinking my request may not have been understood I asked again. To be met with the same “No we don’t have”. I asked if they knew of a shop close by where I could purchase an Iron……to my disbelief the stern answer was “NO” yet again. I often wonder why people with absolutely zero people skills work in a position that brings them into contact with fellow humans. After arriving in my Hotel room I searched high and low for the television remote control. After several minutes looking everywhere and anywhere I walked down three flights again to interact with the reception staff. I informed them that there was NO remote in my room and asked for a replacement to be met with you Breakfast started a little later than just about every other Hotel in Cologne by about an hour. This made it difficult to meet my normal business schedule. I thought the next moment summed it up perfectly….when I saw a small grey MOUSE yes mouse run across the breakfast area floor and hide directly under the table I thought it would be appropriate to let the only staff member know about this. Again the response was limited and action was even less. About 30 minutes later the staff member was still playing on the iPhone.
