Sel Hotel Mývatn

This was one of our favorite hotels we stayed at in Iceland. It is fully staffed with very helpful & knowledgeable. There is tons of parking as well. Across the street is a walkable path. At the hotel they have amazing wooden hottubs & sauna available. The food at the restaurant was great as well & breakfast was large, good options & healthy! The room was clean & quiet & had heated flooring & a full bathtub. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Wonderful hotel with excellent amenities - hot tubs, pool table, darts and even their own beer (the porter was very good)! They alerted us quickly when the northern lights were showing. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious, with lots of options. We had a fantastic stay, thank you!

Staff was exceptional, they genuinely seemed to care that our stay was perfect. Restaurant was also fantastic.

Comfortable stay, tasty breakfast, complimentary coffee all day and a lively hot tub and sauna to top it all off. My mom and I enjoyed this stay along our ring road drive.

Breakfast buffet was wonderful. Options of meat, cheese, eggs, yogurt, cereal,waffles, pickled herring, sardines and many bread options. They had gluten and dairy free options as well. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for ice cream next door.

The location for this is amazing: we enjoyed our walk by the lake and the views. My travel companion enjoyed the on property brewed beer and we also really enjoyed the pizza.

Nice location to watch the northern lights. Rooms are mostly 2 single beds, not many with king beds. Pseudo craters were just across the road and very convenient. Gas station on site. Do note that there’s a horse stable just behind the hotel, and with it comes quite a bit of flies. Flies were in the room as well that were all crowding at the window. Had to use a tissue to squish them all. Good thing they were not buzzing throughout the room and only remained at the window location. Heated floors in the bathroom made a huge difference during the cold nights. Really appreciated the wake up call for northern lights that let me spot the northern lights for the first time. After an hour of enjoying the lights, there was hot chocolate that we could get FOC from the lobby. We loved this place (albeit the flies)

Room was very large and had 2 sinks and 2 toilets! Also a couch which was a nice touch. Carpet could use updating, but the restaurant was very nice for dinner and a nice included breakfast! Would stay again. Nice location.
