Hotel Columbia

Our group of 9 adults (from USA) had a wonderful stay at Hotel Columbia over the Christmas holiday. From the moment I made our reservations last fall, the front desk staff was responsive and helpful in planning dinner reservations and offering all sorts of advice for first-time visitors. One we arrived, they were ready with a smile and a "buongiorno" or "buonasera" whenever we passed by the front desk. The hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes from the Rome Termini (trains, buses, etc) which was important to us. It is also 15-30 minutes walking distance from most major attractions. The property is clean and we found it charming. The rooms are small, but functional and clean. Some of us upgraded to a Superior room which gave us more space. The bathrooms were the only downside - they are small, and the tub is very narrow which made it challenging for some of the larger men in our group. Breakfast was consistently excellent - a wonderful array of healthy options and a smile from the ladies who served. The 5th floor outdoor patio and inside area became our living room for the duration of the trip. We were all able to gather for an aperol spritz (or two), a game of cards, or to watch the birds on the outdoor patio. Without this space, it would have been hard to have everyone together without going out to a restaurant or cafe. We would definitely recommend Hotel Columbia for your stay in Rome, and thank all of the staff for treating us so well!

We stayed at Hotel Columbia for 4 nights with our 14 year old son. Don't judge by the basic decor, fab hotel. Staff where super friendly, really went over and above. It was our sons birthday whilst we where there, the hotel gave him a little birthday card and free drink for the 3 of us. Lovely, thoughtful touch. Breakfast was basic but good choice, fresh made cappuccino every morning. Beautiful roof terrace, where we had drinks to watch the NYE fireworks. Hotel is in a real good location 20-30 min walk from all the main attractions. 5 min walk from the train ststion. Lots of restaurants around the hotel, right next door to the opera house. Rooms where basic but clean, comfy and quiet. Very friendly, welcoming, homely, traditional hotel

Rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable. Breakfast staff was excellent and helpful, good coffee - could use a wider selection of hot food. Bathroom shower was the only downside - stall was tiny, shower head was terrible and water not warm enough. Reception desk staff who checked us in was extremely helpful and welcoming, made for an excellent check in experience.
