Court Hotel Mito

I liked the free drinks options, the location and the ease of check in. I didn't like the thermostat that would not lower the temperature in the room, the faucet in the bathroom leaked and even though I was given a non-smoking room it still had a "smoky" smell. So if you are sensitive to second hand smoke or vape smell it might not be the best choice for you.

I'm surprised this was rated so highly on Expedia. The staff was excellent and tried their best with us not being able to speak Japanese. Cleaning staff were very good and replaced the sheets/towels every day on time. However, the hallways, elevator, and rooms were in unacceptable condition. Most of the carpets just need to be replaced in the hallways. The elevator just needs to be cleaned. The room's utilities work, but everything is yellowed from smoke and decay. There were burn holes in the curtains and the whole room smelled of smoke. I checked other hallways with some being worse and some better.

The condition of the room was very good and the staff service was top notch.

The staff is very professional and friendly, always ready to help. I have stayed here on four different trips for work. The location is pretty good, walkable from the station even with heavy roller bags. The property itself is very run down, but that is reflected in the price. If you are fine with chain restaurants there are plenty of places to eat. But, if you are a foreigner (even if fluent in Japanese) you will likely have a bit of trouble eating at many of the local spots as they will refuse to serve you. Mito is just sort of like that. With a bit of tenacity and patience, you can find some good spots that are more open to outsiders, but it still shocks me to be turned away by multiple establishments even though I can speak Japanese.

It's a great budget hotel that's about a 5 minute walk from the train station. I had some nice runs along the Sakura river behind the hotel.

Compared to the two other hotels on the trip, it seemed much more expensive for not much better rooms or front desk service.

Very dirty, and overpriced. I paid 19,061 JPY ($140) per night. My room had a hole in the wall and was very cramped, the hotel hallway had holes in its walls, weird stains on the carpet, and smelled of smoke. Overall the place felt like a youth hostel. It would have been fine if they were charging budget prices, but the were charging prices that were pretty expensive (especially considering the location, it's in the middle of Ibaraki, and hotels near there are generally half that price)

Good location, Denny's and Seven Eleven nearby. A bit old, but good price for a short stay.

Value for money. Denny’s at the ground floor. Many other eateries around, with a 7-Eleven in reach with 5 minutes walk. The MITO train and bus station is just 10 minutes by foot.

The location is fine, 5 mins walk from Mito station and the staff are pretty courteous as is mostly the case in Japan. However the hotel public areas as well as rooms are way overdue for renovation....one of the few business hotels I stayed in Japan ( and I stayed in many ) that has dirty , stained carpets and scratched walls both in coridors as well as rooms. The lifts have scratches and dents as well from heavy luggage... same with the tables and chairs in rooms. The price is very cheap , around $40 per night if you get a good special but there is a reason for it. Denny,s restaurant attached to the hotel serves an average breakfast menu for around 600 yen in the morning . Overall next time I,d probably pay another $ 20 or so and stay at one of the numerous alternatives in the area.
