Hakone Gora Byakudan

The property is really beautiful; gorgeous views, stunning room, and the private onsen is incredible. Absolutely no feedback on the room, grounds, staff, property, etc all amazing! It’s nice that dinner and breakfast are included given that you are quite a walk uphill from Gora and other restaurants. The food is presented in a beautiful setting and the service was wonderful. That being said, the food itself left much to be desired and given the price, we expected it to taste better.

We would not recommend this hotel to visitors who do not speak Japanese. As English speakers, we had significant communication issues with the staff, which led to multiple service errors during our stay. We booked a 180-minute treatment that was confirmed by the front desk, but it was later canceled by the hotel due to staffing issues. We then scheduled a 120-minute in-room massage as an alternative, which was also confirmed. However, the therapists left after 60 minutes. The front desk apologized and informed us we would not be charged for the massage. I appreciated this gesture of compensation for the several errors the hotel made in our bookings. However, at checkout we were unexpectedly billed for a 60-minute massage, which contradicted what we had been told earlier and added to our overall frustration.

Literally such a perfect experience that healed my soul. I will definitely be back!!

Incredible attention to detail and service. Our room was impeccable and has all of the amenities you would need and want. Most of all, it was our sanctuary during a busy honeymoon trip - reminding us to slow down, sip tea, and take in the scenery - we only wish we could’ve stayed longer. Outstandingly pleasant hotel and spa - and now one of our favourite hotels anywhere! So relaxing and hospitable. Nagisa, our meal host, was so lovely and helpful - a real standout. The whole team did a great job and made sure we had a fantastic stay.

My husband and I are both vegetarians, and the chef was able to make delicious vegetarian meals for us. The dinner we had was one of the best of our time in Japan. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The room and private onsen were relaxing, and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The staff went above and beyond by providing us a ride to the Open Air Museum and then to the train station. We had an incredible time and would very highly recommend staying here!!

The staff was amazing, I forgot to ask the name of our specific help but we couldn’t stop talking about her the entire trip. She was amazing. Please if anything, give her a mountain of praise from us. She made the entire stay amazing, she was incredibly attentive, extremely cordial and very kind. 11/10 stars just for her and I will be staying here again.

Perfect, nothing to complain

From the moment we arrived at Hakone Gora Byukadan, my husband and I were blown away by the warm hospitality and exceptional service that made our stay truly unforgettable. The space is beautiful and exceeded all of our expectations. A special thank you to Saki, who went above and beyond to make our stay even more memorable. Not only did she host our dinner and breakfast with grace and attentiveness, but she also surprised us with a wonderful handmade card celebrating both my husband's birthday and our honeymoon. Her thoughtful touch made our visit feel incredibly personal and special. We also want to extend our thanks to the front desk team for ensuring we had everything we needed, including organizing a car for our departure and the sweet treats for our special occasion. And a heartfelt shoutout to the wonderful driver who picked us up from the train station and dropped us off– it was these small gestures that made us feel so well taken care of throughout our stay. The accommodations were luxurious, great mikimoto products, nice bedding-offering both comfort and tranquility. The food was absolutely exquisite – each meal was a work of art and a true reflection of the rich culinary traditions of the area. Every detail was meticulously attended to, making us feel pampered and valued every moment of our stay. We truly wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you for the memories and experience.

This was a beautiful stay in a lovely ryokan. Service was amazing, the views were beautiful and the traditional Japanese meals a highlight. I only wish I could go back for a longer stay.
