I've never encountered more thoughtful and friendly staff in my life. Even in a country known for hospitality, the staff here shine brighter than all the rest. The room was amazing too. Walk-in shower! Lots of things to see and places to eat in walking distance. And the station is barely a block away. Id say it's worth visiting Kyoto just to stay at this hotel.

Really nice stay that is quite close to the bamboo forest entrance. The owner ran the front desk and was so sweet. She left a heartfelt personalized card in our roommwith two perfect origami. The room was really great - she made us aware that there are limited views because of the location, but ymwe could still see the Arashkima forest from our balcony. Nespresso in the room (huge plus!), high quality green tea with a beautiful tea set, and great japanese amenities.

The room, bathroom, AND the shower are probably the biggest of all the hotels where we’ve stayed in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Did not feel cramped whatsoever. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Just a short walk to the Arashiyama bamboo forest. The location is perfect if you plan to visit the surrounding areas there

Small property but packs a punch. Offered a refreshing tea upon arrival. Close to the bamboo forest, but you can the escape the hustle and bustle of the sea of tourists. Rooms and clean and tidy. And very large! Would stay there again for sure.

Beautiful room with balcony overlooking the city and mountains. Location is by the bamboo forest and we thoroughly enjoyed that! The room was spacious for a Japanese hotel not to mention very comfortable. We used the JR train which is only a short walk away, along with buses (not as convenient depending on our destination) and taxis, which aren't very expensive compared to US. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. There's a cute little sushi place down the street. Overall the area isn't overwhelmed with tourists or restaurants (a plus), but there are plenty of great options within a reasonable walking distance. I would definitely stay there again if I'm in Kyoto.
