Location of this hotel is very good, just 2 minutes walk to the train station. Very quiet and the room is spacious compared to those in Tokyo. The breakfast buffet is the best I had during our trip in Japan, which offers both Japanese and western style food. Hot spring bath is excellent, and I enjoyed very much. Highly recommend it if anyone travels to Hakone. Will definitely stay again in future.

Two things were significantly off from my expectations: 1. The major issue was that the staff told me the Onsen was “for Japanese only”. As a white 47 year old male, I’ve finally managed to get to a point where I can say I was discriminated against based on my race, and as it was available to non-Japanese women (the staff offered it to my British Mother), also my gender. Welcome to 2025 I guess! 2. The second issue, was that when we booked on August 4th, 2025, the Expedia page specifically said that the pool would be available after July 31st, 2025. We arrived on August 5th, 2025 and the pool was not available (out of service). We spent time on the 4th buying bathing suits in Tokyo looking forward to using the facilities. I guess we will take several expensive, unused bathing suits back to the US. I know in the big picture, both of these are just gripes, but the property was a premium option, and otherwise as expected. The unexpected racism kinda threw me off!

Just across from the train station. Elevator access. Room was in need of repairs including new carpet and furniture. Bed was very hard, like sleeping on a cement floor.

Japanese style room was really large, very comfortable and clean. Beautiful view of the valley. Staff were friendly. The onsen was uncrowded and clean, very peaceful in the forest. Breakfast was a bit chaotic but the staff did their best to keep it flowing. The lobby bar has good cocktails and a professional bartender. Overall definitely recommend as a “home base” for the Hakone round course/freepass.

Excellent stay. Literally a 5 minute walk from Hakone-Yamoto train station. Close to restaurants, buses and trains. Very clean and very friendly, helpful staff. Good food selection at breakfast buffet.

The hotel seems like you are in the 80s and for the price k was hoping for a more updated hotel. The Osden was good but it did have a moldy smell. The views from the hotel were breathtaking and it was walkable to public transportation bus train. The breakfast was ok although it did have many options there was limited fruits and scrambled eggs were super runny. The worst of my experience at this hotel was at check out..and the fact that for some reason we did not find one hotel card… note that we did not leave the hotel in our stay and it has to be somewhere in the room, that being said they charged us 5000 yen for the lost card. No one mentioned this charge ever and apparently it was in a fine print of a long paper they give you at the beginning. I thought it was unfair and unprecedented. Overall Was not impressed especially for this price and also note I stay at hotels all over the world for work and I am not one to provide reviews.
