Good vibe hostel
This is quite a good hostel. It's relaxed and social although you can either decide to join in or keep yourself to yourself. People are very considerate at night time and always try to be quiet. The only reason we moved was because we could get a private room for the same price just down the road. I also never really sleep well in dorms. For the price you don't get a lot but I think that's just how it is in Malaysia or maybe just George Town. Wifi doesn't really work well and it's quite cold at night with the aircon. I wore a jumper at night.

Great hostel with fantastic vibe.
Without a doubt the best thing about Angmoh is the chilled vibe and laid back staff which allows you to decide for yourself whether you're going to chill for a few beers, or play a couple of drinking games and head for a night out. Staff are great, always willing to help and really laid back. Location is great, tucked away down a side street but close to fantastic food and the Little India/Chinatown areas.

Good place to meet travelers, location is a bit of a double-edged sword
Stayed here for a couple of nights. I'm not sure if this is a new hostel, managed by a new set of people, or they just renamed it. Interesting name for a hostel (look it up if you want to know the meaning). I'm not sure if it is indeed owned by locals or by expats, most of the time I was there, I saw expats managing the counter (either they were travelers helping out, or they indeed manage the business). Regardless, the staff were pretty nice. The dorm room was very spacious, and some bunk beds are grouped in fours, with curtain as blinders so you still get some privacy. Beds are comfortable, and they provide new sheets and blanket for you to use. My only concern with the room is that the air con has a schedule, so at around lunch time, the room can get pretty hot. Stay at the lobby if you want to cool off. They also have 3 showers and two toilets (one for male and one for female), just make sure you don't go there during busy hours or else you have to wait for your turn. In terms of location, the place is a bit concealed, no other signage or marker aside from the tarpaulin they use for the hostel name. I missed the place the first time I passed the street and had to turn back. It's surrounded by other local businesses in the street so if you're not alert, you'll miss the place as well. Also, I have to note that during my last night in Georgetown, there was a heavy rain and the Pinai Tali street was flooded, which was surprising because I know Malaysia has some good drainage system to handle such downpour. I had to walk the nasty flood in order to get back to the hostel. And the street doesn't seem so secure walking around at night. The positive note about the location is that it is walking distance to the hawker food stalls at night, and also close to some 24 hour establishments and bars. In the morning, you can walk the other end of the street and you'll reach some good chinese restaurants that offer amazing dimsum. To get here, if you're coming from Butterworth, take the ferry to the main island, take any Rapid Penang bus that goes through the entire Lebuh Chulia. Alight at Love lane (you can see a 7-11 at the corner on your right). Walk a bit further, past the Reggae mansion. Turn left at Pintai Tali street. From the corner, walk about 100m, and to your right is the hostel. If you're coming from Sungai Nibong, take any bus that stops at Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling or Lebuh Chulia. From corner of Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling and Lebuh Chulia, walk towards Love lane, and then follow the remaining instructions to the hostel from the previous paragraph. If you're unsure, just take any bus that goes to Jetty, and then from Jetty, take any bus that passes through the entire stretch of Lebuh Chulia (and follow the steps from the previous paragraph).

Place to be in George Town!!!
What can I say? Yes, yes and yes! This place is one of dreams. If you like partying, great food or simply enjoying beautiful places, this is the hostel for you. The staff are super friendly and helpful - you can't really ask for any better. The hostel is a really nice place to hang out in the day or the evening. If you're nursing a hangover or have some work to do, hang out with people in the lobby area which is usually pretty chilled and might have a movie playing. By night, there's usually drinking games and fun people to chat to. The whole place is very clean, the staff seem to clean twice daily. Hot showers are a great addition. We stayed in both the upper and lower dorm - the pod beds with curtains are really great for a bit of privacy. The dorms are also spacious and quiet, we didn't experience any disturbances in the night and we stayed for over a week! Plus, they're a great price. The location was just perfect, right in the centre of great food, nightlife, culture and shopping. A highlight was a trip to a deserted island with some of the staff and other guests - a really unique opportunity (and cheap too, we all just chipped in for an Uber and boat). Easily the best hostel I've stayed in in 5 months travelling. Don't miss out!!!
