Connecting with Nature indeed!
Went here for 3 days 2 nights with two of my buddies. The entrance to the Resort is another 4km from the Security Post. You need to be verified by the Security Guards before you're permitted to actually drive in the vicinity to the Resort. The road is a bit rocky at first but as you approach the Resort, the road is pitted.
Although the check-in procedure mentioned until 8pm, the Reception Counter was already off by 5pm (office hours, I believe). However, our key was still prepared and we checked-in nicely to the Engkabang Family Room (which wasn't the room we booked). We sorted it out the next morning and got the Standard Engkabang Room with an additional of mattress (sofa bed). This is on the 4th Floor. One level below the Lobby/Reception/Main Entrance. They have basic toiletries and towels too btw.
So that evening, we had a lavish dinner of 6 dishes on top of appetizers and desserts by the Resort Lobby (the restaurants were already closed by the time we arrived).
The next morning, breakfast began with bread toasts which you can have with butter and/or 2 different jams. Then, the main course arrived and we almost fainted seeing the amount. :D
After breakfast, we went on the complimentary Resort Tour. We went to see the farm animals, went boating and fed the fishes by the river/canal. We also were lucky enough to get an add-on tour to the orchard and stopped by the hilltop to see the breathtaking view of the nature. We ended our tour with the Waterfall visit. It was a great hour tour with little walk/hike here and there. Our driver and tour guide were very friendly and bubbly!
We had a hearty lunch break before we resumed our afternoon to enjoy the complimentary Waterpark and Pool. Unleashing our inner child at our best since we had the Resort all to ourselves then (yes, only 3 of us were in the Resort). We tried the water slides and they were exhilarating! The Waterpark is just your hip-length deep and the Pool is chest-length deep (comparison to an average Asian height).
We ended our Day 2 with the Nature Walk/Hike. Took the 30mins route (Route 2). They have different routes and time length. At dinner, we had the Pandan Coconut and it was definitely delicious! Well, of course, another big dinner meal.
Oh there's also a small souvenir shop where I got a mug and a bunch of wooden handmade keychains.
Day 3 & our last day. We had our last breakfast (yes, a big one). We decided to go for the Hanging Bridge walk and that's about RM10 each person. Before we checked out, we tried the Indoor Archery which costs about RM15 per pax for 10 arrows. I must say, they need to really get a new set of arrows for better customer's satisfaction. We ended our stay with another fulfilling lunch.
Oh btw, the wifi is accessible only by the Lobby vicinity. It is after all a Resort that focuses on connecting with nature. :) Oh and you got to pay some fees if you want to go for the activities/games. Just check their website for more information.
Thank you Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort, the friendly staff, the good meals and of course for the fun and experiences during our stay.
p/s: We love to suggest to maybe reduce the portion of the meals as we weren't able to finish them most of the time. We felt really bad!
