Pasir Puteh is a town in Kelantan, Malaysia. The location of Pasir Puteh is situated on the bank of Semerak River which is about 30 kilometres to the south of Kota Bharu. Pasir Puteh also located near to the borderline of Kelantan and Terengganu.
According to the history, Pasir Puteh was derived after the Sultan Muhammad IV had visited the place, which was known as Pangkalan Limbungan. He, then saw the shining white sand along the riverbanks and was impressed with it. In 1911, the Sultan had declared the place, as known in current name as Pasir Puteh.
Pasir Puteh is measured for 167.2 square stone. It has 8 districts which are Padang Pak Amat, Bukit Abal, Bukit Awang, Bukit Jawa, Gong Datuk, Jeram, Limbongan dan Semerak.
Most of the locals in Pasir Puteh speak their national language with their east coast dialect. Malaysians called it as Kelantan dialect. It is different from Terengganu dialect. Kelantanese dialect is influenced by Thai language as Kelantan’s neighbouring country is Southern Thailand. This dialect is vastly known in Malaysia and known for its uniqueness.
