The hotel is not too big, there is no elevator, but the space is also cozy, there are water plants outside the rooms. There are bicycles for loan but the car is old, I choose to walk because walking to the street is also close. The owner showed me the breakfast restaurant on the right hand side of the door about 100m away, this restaurant I saw a lot of locals eating and it was very crowded. I think it's ok, the food is okay. In general, if you want to choose a luxury hotel, this is not a good choice, but warm, 1 night stay, I think it's completely OK.

CK Hotel is an excellent budget option in Malacca. The hotel and room were very clean, a short 8 minutes to the historical center, and a 15 min Grab/taxi to the bus terminal for only 7rm. There was a filter water station on every floor which was very convenient. Would stay again without hesitation.

CK Hotel is a barebones hotel with no bells and whistles. There is no elevator so hopefully you don’t have a huge bag. My room barely had space beyond the bed. The coat hangers actually make moving inside the room quite awkward. The location of the hotel is fantastic. It’s right next to a restaurant and a bunch of shops including a currency exchange shop. Street parking is widely available. Jonker street is an easy walk away. The hotel itself is very quiet, though if you have a room overlooking the street you’ll get the usual traffic noise during the day. They have a free drinking water dispenser which is a big plus. The area feels very safe. I’m pleased with my choice, though if I had been looking for comfort I probably would’ve stayed elsewhere.

Your Travel Guide to Melaka City as a Malaysian Traveler

How to Get to Melaka City from Kuala Lumpur and Major Malaysian Cities

Traveling to Melaka City from Kuala Lumpur and other major Malaysian cities is straightforward, with several convenient options available. For those who prefer speed and comfort, booking a flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is a common choice, with fares often ranging from MYR 150 to MYR 300 depending on the airline and booking time. From KLIA, you can then take a bus or arrange for a private transfer to Melaka City, which takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Alternatively, bus travel is a very popular and economical choice for reaching Melaka City. Numerous bus companies operate frequent services from Kuala Lumpur's TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) to Melaka Sentral. The journey typically takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, and ticket prices usually fall between MYR 15 to MYR 30. This option is ideal for budget-conscious travelers who want a direct and hassle-free transfer.

Driving yourself is another viable option, especially if you are traveling with family or a group. The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka City via the North-South Expressway (PLUS Highway) takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Toll charges can range from MYR 20 to MYR 30 for a one-way trip, depending on your vehicle class. This provides flexibility to stop along the way or explore at your own pace. Remember to book your flight and other travel arrangements in advance for the best prices.

Best Time to Visit Melaka City

Melaka City enjoys a tropical rainforest climate, meaning it is warm and humid throughout the year. The best time to visit for most Malaysian travelers is generally between March and October, which falls within the drier season. During these months, you can expect less rainfall, making it more pleasant for outdoor exploration of historical sites and enjoying river cruises.

However, it's important to note that even in the drier months, short, heavy downpours can occur, especially in the late afternoon. The period from November to February often sees more consistent rainfall due to the Northeast Monsoon. While this might mean fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, it could also lead to disruptions in outdoor activities.

For those seeking to avoid the largest crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons, such as April to May or September to October. These periods still offer good weather but with fewer tourists than the peak months of July and August. Regardless of when you visit, always be prepared for warm weather by packing light clothing and staying hydrated.

Food and Dining Near Melaka City — What Malaysian Travelers Must Try

Melaka is a culinary destination, and no visit is complete without indulging in its iconic dishes. Nasi Lemak, the national dish of Malaysia, is a must-try. Served with fragrant coconut rice, spicy sambal, anchovies, peanuts, and a hard-boiled egg, it’s a flavorful start to any day. You can find excellent versions at local eateries and even some hawker stalls.

Another local favorite is Char Kway Teow, a stir-fried flat rice noodle dish cooked over high heat with prawns, cockles, bean sprouts, and chives. The smoky aroma and savory taste are truly addictive. Many stalls in Melaka offer their unique take on this classic, so be sure to sample a few to find your favorite.

For those who enjoy noodles in a rich, spicy broth, Melaka Laksa is a delightful option. It often features a unique blend of flavors, differing from other regional variations. Also, don't forget to try Roti Canai, a flaky flatbread served with curry, perfect for breakfast or a light meal. Satay, marinated grilled meat skewers served with peanut sauce, is another popular choice, especially for evening snacks.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Melaka City

Melaka City is a melting pot of cultures, and respecting local customs is key to a pleasant visit. When visiting religious sites like mosques or temples, dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees. Malaysians are generally friendly and welcoming, so a polite greeting like "Selamat Pagi" (Good Morning) or "Terima Kasih" (Thank You) goes a long way.

Safety in Melaka City is generally good, but like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded tourist spots, to avoid petty theft. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying them unnecessarily. For emergencies, the national emergency number is 999, which connects you to police, ambulance, and fire services.

To enhance your travel experience, several apps are highly recommended for Malaysian travelers. Grab is essential for convenient e-hailing transportation across the city. Touch 'n Go eWallet is useful for cashless payments at many establishments and for topping up your transit card. MySejahtera, the government's contact tracing app, may still be useful for checking in at certain venues. Having these apps on your smartphone will make navigating and managing your trip much smoother.

The staff were very friendly. The room wasn’t very big, but it still felt spacious. There was a Coway machine to refill water and make drinks, and an iron and ironing board were available upon request. The location was very strategic, with many places within walking distance.

Suitable to be used as a place to stay if you are in an emergency. The hotel location is quite good, not too far from the city center. The room is very small and does not match what is described in the application.

CK Hotel is super super awesome! the room and toilet are very clean (you can't even see a dust under the bed!), they even provided toiletries. they also provided several sachet of coffee, mugs, mineral water and electric jug. and you can even refill your water at the dispenser. It's very convenient for me since I travel with my family (a baby and a preschool kid). The girl on the front desk is very friendly. We will absolutely come to CK Hotel again the next time we visit Malacca.

The hotel is very clean, and the strongest is the location near breakfast places and good restaurants, pharmacies and hospitals. The service is also friendly, the choice of rooms varies according to needs. Prices are not expensive and not cheap either, according to quality. The only thing that is lacking is air conditioners for some rooms that have no wind / wing protection so that they disturb sleep comfort. Hopefully it can be better in the future.

A good hotel, deserve to stay on it. The staff is friendly. It's just a little bit far from the downtown but it's good for one who wants to stay in a quiet place. However, the grab price is quite cheap.

The staff were very friendly. The room wasn’t very big, but it still felt spacious. There was a Coway machine to refill water and make drinks, and an iron and ironing board were available upon request. The location was very strategic, with many places within walking distance.

The reception staff was friendly and quite clear in providing explanations..in Melaka there is a local policy regarding foreign tourist tax and hotel tax paid when checking in total 13%. the room was quite comfortable and clean, just a bit cramped and there is no elevator, so you have to use the stairs with your belongings/luggage etc. the facilities are commensurate with the price.
