I had an amazing 5-night stay at the hotel. I just wanted to highlight one thing that stood out to me the most. There is this young lady that works at the 22nd-floor restaurant. I think I noticed the name tag says Michelle. She helped me a lot, giving me ideas where to go and what to see, as this was my first time in Kuching. On top of that, she was very friendly and spent time having a short conversation with me every time I had my daily afternoon tea break. Big kudos to Michelle (I hope I get the name right) and the entire Pullman Kuching crew. I know I'm gonna be back to Kuching sometime next year as there are so many things I haven't explored and will definitely stay in Pullman again.

I had the most pleasant stay here with my friends. The staff was so understanding and helping. Check in time was earlier because I have to decor the room for my friend’s anniversary surprise. The room very big, neat and beautiful.

Overview of Pullman Kuching

Standing proudly atop Jalan Mathies hill in the heart of Kuching's Golden Triangle,

Pullman Kuching

is one of Sarawak's most distinguished 5-star hotels. With 389 newly renovated rooms that frame sweeping views of the Sarawak River and the city skyline, this Accor-managed property has long served as the premier address for both business travellers and leisure guests exploring Borneo's most charming capital. The hotel occupies an elevated position directly above Hills Shopping Mall, placing restaurants, retail, and entertainment within arm's reach the moment you step out of the lift.

What sets Pullman Kuching apart is the thoughtful way it weaves Sarawakian heritage into contemporary luxury. The redesigned interiors draw on local craftsmanship and organic textures, creating spaces that feel both modern and deeply rooted in the culture of the region. Floor-to-ceiling windows are a recurring design signature throughout the property, ensuring that the lush tropical canopy and meandering Sarawak River remain constant companions during your stay. A five-minute stroll brings you to the celebrated Kuching Waterfront, while the storied shophouses of Main Bazaar sit barely 300 metres from the hotel entrance.

Whether you are in town for a corporate conference, a family holiday, or a gateway trip to the rainforests and longhouses of Sarawak, Pullman Kuching delivers a polished guest experience anchored by five distinct dining venues, an outdoor pool, a dedicated spa, a well-equipped fitness centre, and an Executive Lounge perched on the 22nd floor with panoramic city views. Check-in begins at 15:00 and check-out is at 12:00, giving you a leisurely morning to enjoy one last breakfast before heading out.

Room Types at Pullman Kuching

All 389 rooms and suites at

Pullman Kuching

have been refreshed with a contemporary design language that nods to Sarawak's rich artistic traditions. Every category features complimentary high-speed WiFi, a flat-screen satellite TV, smart climate control, a minibar, an in-room safe, and a private bathroom fitted with both a rain shower and a bathtub. Yoga mats and dumbbells are available upon request for guests who prefer to exercise in the privacy of their room. Below is a closer look at each room type.

Deluxe Room

The Deluxe Room is the hotel's signature accommodation, available in both King and Twin bed configurations. At

38 square metres

, it offers generous floor space for a standard category, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to either a Sarawak River panorama or the dynamic Kuching city skyline. The sleeping area is complemented by a dedicated work desk, satellite TV, and a minibar, while the partially open bathroom features a sleek bathtub alongside a rain shower. The Deluxe Room is an excellent choice for couples, solo travellers, or business guests seeking comfort without the premium of an executive-floor stay.

Premium Deluxe Room

Stepping up in size to

45 square metres

, the Premium Deluxe Room is available in King and Twin configurations and provides an enhanced version of the Deluxe experience. The additional floor space translates into a more expansive living area, making it well suited for guests who value room to spread out. Views remain a highlight, with the same floor-to-ceiling glass framing the river or the city, and all core amenities — rain shower, bathtub, minibar, smart climate control — carry over. This category strikes a fine balance between space and value for travellers who want something a step above standard.

Family Room

Designed as a genuine family base rather than an afterthought, the Family Room at Pullman Kuching spans

51 square metres

and is fitted with one king bed and one single bed alongside a dedicated seating area. The layout creates distinct sleeping and relaxation zones, which is a welcome touch for parents travelling with younger children. Every amenity found in the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe categories is included here, with the added advantage of more elbow room for luggage, travel gear, and the general paraphernalia that comes with family travel. Views alternate between river and city vistas depending on room allocation.

Executive Rooms

Pullman Kuching offers Executive-tier rooms across its Deluxe (38 sqm), Premium Deluxe (45 sqm), and Family (51 sqm) categories. The in-room experience mirrors the standard version of each size, but the defining perk is

exclusive access to The Peak Executive Lounge

on the 22nd floor. Here, guests enjoy complimentary refreshments throughout the day and evening canapés in a sophisticated setting high above the city. Executive guests also receive complimentary use of the Executive Meeting Room, subject to availability — a genuine advantage for business travellers who need a professional space for small meetings without booking a full conference facility. King and Twin bed options are offered across all Executive room sizes.

Executive Suite

At

76 square metres

, the Executive Suite introduces a separate boardroom-style living room connected to the bedroom via a private passage. Large windows flood both spaces with natural light and deliver panoramic views of the Sarawak River. The living area features textured, panelled surfaces and ample seating for informal meetings or relaxed evenings in. Two flat-screen televisions — one in each room — a Nespresso machine, premium pillow options, and the full Executive Lounge privileges round out a package that caters equally to high-level business stays and special-occasion getaways.

Premier Suite

The Premier Suite is a

152-square-metre

residence that transforms a hotel stay into a genuine lifestyle experience. It incorporates a private dining space for up to eight guests, a dedicated study with panoramic city views, a separate living area, and a wet bar — all finished in clean lines, warm tones, and layered textures inspired by Sarawak's artistic heritage. Executive Lounge access and complimentary Executive Meeting Room usage are included. The Premier Suite is ideally suited for VIP guests, extended stays, or anyone hosting intimate gatherings who requires both privacy and a prestigious setting.

Royal Suite

Occupying the top floor of the hotel, the

245-square-metre Royal Suite

is Pullman Kuching's crown jewel. This palatial residence features a grand main living area, a formal dining room, an adjoining study, a private library, a walk-in closet, and a dedicated bar counter — all enveloped by 360-degree views of the Kuching skyline and beyond. A master wing with its own separate living space ensures complete privacy, while

24-hour butler service

means every request is attended to without delay. Executive Lounge access is naturally included, though guests of the Royal Suite may never feel the need to leave their own extraordinary quarters.

Facilities and Amenities

Pullman Kuching

delivers a full complement of 5-star facilities designed to keep guests comfortable, productive, and entertained throughout their stay. The

outdoor swimming pool

on Level 2 is framed by lush tropical greenery and features comfortable loungers alongside the Liquid Pool Bar, making it a popular social hub on warm Sarawak afternoons. Poolside showers with green marble walls and innovative body dryers add a thoughtful premium touch.

The hotel's

fitness centre

offers modern cardio and strength equipment with city views, catering to guests who wish to maintain their workout routines while travelling. For deeper relaxation,

Fit & Spa Borneo

provides a range of pampering treatments including body massages, hot stone therapy, facials, and traditional wellness rituals. A sauna, steam room, and hot tub round out the wellness offering, creating a comprehensive retreat within the hotel.

Business travellers will appreciate the fully equipped

business centre

and a selection of

meeting and event rooms

capable of hosting everything from boardroom sessions to large-scale conferences. Currency exchange services are available at the front desk, and the hotel provides a

complimentary area shuttle

— a handy perk for reaching nearby attractions without arranging private transport. Other standard amenities include 24-hour room service, laundry and dry cleaning services, a 24-hour front desk, and card-controlled lift access for guest security. Complimentary high-speed

WiFi

is available throughout all guest rooms and public areas.

Location and Getting There

Pullman Kuching enjoys a coveted address at 1A Jalan Mathies, right in the centre of Kuching's Golden Triangle — the city's prime commercial and cultural district. The hotel's hilltop position grants it elevated views that few properties in the city can match, while its ground-level connection to Hills Shopping Mall means you have immediate access to retail and dining even before venturing out into the wider city.

Kuching International Airport (KCH)

is approximately 11 kilometres away, with the drive taking around 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Taxis are readily available from the official airport taxi counter in the Arrivals Hall, with fares fixed by destination. Alternatively,

Grab

operates round the clock in Kuching, with a designated pick-up point just outside the arrivals terminal; fares to the hotel typically start from approximately RM 12 to RM 30 depending on demand and vehicle type.

Once settled in, you will find that most of Kuching's top attractions are within comfortable walking distance. The

Kuching Waterfront

— a beautifully landscaped esplanade running along the Sarawak River — is just a five-minute walk away. The iconic

Main Bazaar

, home to antique dealers, textile shops, and souvenir stalls, lies roughly 300 metres from the hotel. The

Sarawak Museum

, one of the finest in Southeast Asia, is a short stroll further along, while the much-photographed

Cat Statue

and the

Chinese History Museum

are both within 600 metres. For shopping, the

Riverside Shopping Complex

and

Tun Jugah Shopping Centre

are each reachable in under five minutes on foot.

Dining at Pullman Kuching

With five distinct dining and bar venues,

Pullman Kuching

ensures that guests rarely need to leave the property in search of a memorable meal. Each outlet embraces a bar-led dining philosophy, pairing inventive food with curated beverages in convivial, design-forward settings.

Culina

Culina is the hotel's vibrant, fine-casual Pan-Asian restaurant and serves as the primary all-day dining venue. Built around an open-kitchen theatre concept, it brings the energy of Asia's night markets into an elegant indoor space. Guests can watch chefs at work across live cooking stations while enjoying a menu of shareable small plates and soulful mains that spotlight intra-Asian flavours. Signature dishes include

Laksa Sarawak

, freshly rolled

Popiah

prepared tableside, craft-your-own

Kueh Pie Tee

, and

Sarawak Pepper Steak

finished with a tableside flourish. The

breakfast buffet

at Culina runs from 6:30 am to 10:30 am on weekdays and extends to 11:00 am on weekends and public holidays, featuring both international and local favourites.

Nu Er Hong

An award-winning

Halal Cantonese fine dining

restaurant led by Chef Charles — formerly of the renowned Hakkasan — Nu Er Hong draws its design inspiration from the Maritime Silk Road, incorporating Fujian craftsmanship, Longjing tea hues, and subtle nautical motifs. The menu spans traditional dim sum to signature creations such as

Tea-Smoked Peking Duck

and

Wok-Fried Black Pepper Beef

, all paired with exquisite teas and curated wines. Private dining rooms accommodate up to 48 guests, making it an exceptional choice for celebrations, corporate dinners, and special occasions.

The Junction

Serving as the hotel's social epicentre, The Junction is a relaxed bar and lounge offering playful cocktails and conversation-friendly small plates in an always-on format. It is the ideal spot for a pre-dinner drink, a late-evening nightcap, or a casual catch-up with colleagues and friends.

Liquid Pool Bar

Set on Level 2 beside the outdoor pool, the Liquid Pool Bar brings an open-air, resort-style atmosphere to the heart of Kuching. Shareable plates and refreshing cocktails are served poolside, making it a favourite retreat during Sarawak's warm afternoons and balmy evenings.

The Peak Executive Lounge

Perched on the 22nd floor with sweeping views of the city,

The Peak

is an exclusive sanctuary reserved for Executive Room and Suite guests. Complimentary refreshments are available throughout the day, with evening canapés and curated beverages served in a sophisticated setting designed to encourage both relaxation and productive conversation.

Why Stay at Pullman Kuching

Unbeatable city-centre location.

Few hotels in Kuching can match the combination of a hilltop vantage point and genuine walkability. Pullman Kuching places you within a five-minute walk of the Waterfront, Main Bazaar, and the city's key cultural landmarks, while its position above Hills Shopping Mall means retail therapy is always just a lift ride away.

Comprehensive five-star facilities.

From an outdoor pool and a full-service spa to a 22nd-floor Executive Lounge and multiple meeting rooms, the hotel provides everything a discerning traveller needs under one roof. The complimentary area shuttle is a thoughtful bonus that removes the hassle of short-distance transport.

Exceptional dining variety.

Five on-site venues — spanning Pan-Asian all-day dining, Halal Cantonese fine dining, poolside casual, and cocktail lounges — mean you could eat every meal at the hotel and never repeat an experience. The Halal certification of Nu Er Hong is a particular draw for Muslim travellers seeking fine dining in Kuching.

Rooms designed for the modern traveller.

The recent renovation has brought all 389 rooms up to a contemporary international standard while retaining local Sarawakian character. Smart climate control, complimentary WiFi, rain showers, bathtubs in every category, and the option of yoga mats and dumbbells on request reflect a hotel that understands what today's guests value.

Gateway to Borneo adventures.

Kuching is the launchpad for Sarawak's world-famous natural attractions — from Bako National Park and Semenggoh Wildlife Centre to the longhouses of the Iban and Bidayuh communities. Pullman Kuching's central position and concierge services make organising day trips straightforward, ensuring your Borneo adventure begins and ends in comfort.

Tips for Booking Pullman Kuching

Book early for peak periods.

Kuching sees its highest visitor numbers during major cultural festivals such as the Rainforest World Music Festival (typically held in June or July) and the Sarawak Regatta. Rooms at Pullman Kuching fill quickly during these events, so securing your reservation at least four to six weeks in advance is strongly advisable. Shoulder months like March, April, and September often offer a quieter experience with more competitive rates.

Consider an Executive Room for added value.

The upgrade to an Executive category unlocks access to The Peak Executive Lounge on the 22nd floor, where complimentary snacks, beverages, and evening canapés can meaningfully reduce your daily food and drink spend. For business travellers, the complimentary Executive Meeting Room access can also save on external venue hire.

Request a river-view room.

Both river-facing and city-facing rooms are available across most categories. If a Sarawak River panorama matters to you, note your preference when booking through Traveloka or contact the hotel directly — river-view rooms tend to be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and are especially popular at sunset.

Take advantage of the breakfast buffet.

Culina's morning spread is one of the most generous hotel breakfasts in Kuching, blending international staples with local specialities like Laksa Sarawak and freshly made kueh. Weekend timings extend to 11:00 am, so there is no rush if you are enjoying a leisurely Saturday or Sunday morning.

Use Grab for airport transfers.

While the hotel is only 15 to 20 minutes from Kuching International Airport, using Grab is a convenient and cost-effective option, with fares starting from approximately RM 12 depending on demand. The app allows cashless payment and real-time tracking, which is particularly handy for early-morning departures. The hotel also offers a complimentary area shuttle for trips around the city centre, so be sure to enquire about the schedule at the front desk upon arrival.

Renovations were underway so the hotel was doing their best to stay functional. The staff were fantastic but the smell of building dust every morning as you left your room got a bit too much after a few days, even though we were on the 19th floor. I would return but only once the hotel was back to normal as the renovations made the hotel more like a prison where they confine you to your room rather than a social hotel.

The hotel was undergoing extensive renovations when I stayed. The reception was tricky to locate first time as you have to go via a shopping centre, but there are staff that get you to the right place at every point. The pool, restaurant and gym were closed, but they have alternative sites which are not particularly convenient. I was surprised that there was no choice of wines on the menu, it was just red or white and the white was not good, especially as it was served warm! This is not uncommon in Malaysia, but I expected more from the Pullman. My main issue was communication. I had tried to contact the hotel via the app, then via the website email address, on several occasions with no response. I commented on this and was given an upgrade, but this did not resolve the problem. I even tried going via accor hotels, so I would not stay again as it was impossible to contact the hotel by email prior to my stay. This is not a problem I have ever had before. On the positive side, the breakfast was amazing.

The staff are very friendly and professional, ensuring your safety. The hotel is centrally located making it easy to walk to nearby shops and attractions. The Pullman is currently under renovation, which it sorely needs as its age is showing in the west and year of its rooms. Once the renovations are done, the hotel will be more pleasant.

Good Location except the Housekeeping lady was inconsistent with the towels & left cleaning items in the bathroom.

Excellent service from the arrival to departure! Reasonable price for the executive room. Great location to the Sarawak River boardwalk and close to shopping area and Chinatown

Swimming Pool out of order for a long period due to hotel renovation works. We should see tremendous improvement in the near future, kudos!
