Well actually I don't want to say our staying experience in this hotel is bad. Everything is fine/ok except the room condition we had. We booked 2 standard connecting rooms. In one room the central aircon is always dripping water and made the floor wet all the time. In my room, the ceiling has big circle yellow stains and 2 holes above my bed. I think it is because of water dripping from the above unit. Anyway, the hotel location is very good. Finding food is not a problem because we can find lots of food stalls, restaurants along the road. Food quality.... Rather than purchase the breakfast voucher, I would suggest that you go outside the hotel and find so many delicious foods and coffee nearby the hotel. Btw the dim sum restaurant on the right side of the hotel is a must to visit.

Good location. A lot of foods. Easy to reach every good spots. Big room. However amenities are standard. And there are ants. Also aircond was smelly. Some maintenance is necessary. Good for kids too as there is swimming pool

Stayed in their family-room for 3 nights. The bedroom was spacious for 4 adults and clean. Hotel breakfast was OK since the food was less varied. Staffs are helpful and friendly. Overall was great. We will definitely come back for more.

Red Rock Hotel Penang is a hotel in Penang that was established and opened in April 2007, just eleven years ago. It is owned by the Red Rock Group, a small family-owned company that began its journey in George Town, Penang as a general contractor company that is rapidly evolved to a property development company in Penang. The name ‘Red Rock’ was actually the name of the village where the family’s forefathers were from, the Red Rock Village in China. The Red Rock Hotel Penang is located in the heart of the historic town of George Town and near to the Penang’s famous Hawker Food Centre, along the Macalister Road, specifically at 202A of Macalister Road, George Town. This three-star hotel is housed in a nine-storey building. The hotel is near to a number of popular tourist destinations in Penang such as the KOMTAR and the Glass Museum among others. The hotel has three types of room. The best thing about this hotel is that the hotel applies a free cancellation policy for all of their rooms thus no fee would be applied if one were to cancel their bookings.

How to Get to Red Rock Hotel Penang

It is easy to go to the Red Rock Hotel in Penang as it is located in the middle of a city that is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia. Going to Penang itself is easy, be it by using private transportation or the public. From the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, the drive to George Town in Penang Island will take about four hours for a three hundred and sixty kilometres trip. The time, however, may change depending on the current traffic of the North-South Highway and also the traffic on the Penang Bridge as sometimes it can take hours just to cross the bridge due to the number of vehicles. There is also an option to take the ferry to cross the Penang Strait. The ferry carries both motor vehicles and pedestrians. Ticket prices differ based class; for pedestrians, the adult is at RM 1.20 while a child of the age 5 – 12, is just 50 cent. For the vehicles, a bicycle is at RM 1.40; a motorcycle is RM 2.00 while a car is RM 7.70. If driving if not something you prefer, there are daily coaches from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Kuala Lumpur to Sungai Nibong Express Bus Terminal on the Penang Island. The ticket starts from RM 34, with the trip is expected to be five hours. The distance between the express bus terminal to the Red Rock Hotel Penang is just above ten kilometres with the trip taking about twenty minutes to complete. Domestic-wise, there are flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Kota Bahru, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and even from another famous tourist spot in Malaysia, Langkawi Island. From the airport, one can take a taxi to go to the Red Rock Hotel. There are plenty of taxis on Penang Island but it is recommended to get the ticket from a taxi stand inside the airport building instead of hailing outside as there are a number of taxi drivers who would charge extra especially if they spot tourists.
