Red Rock Hotel Penang is a hotel in Penang that was established and opened in April 2007, just eleven years ago. It is owned by the Red Rock Group, a small family-owned company that began its journey in George Town, Penang as a general contractor company that is rapidly evolved to a property development company in Penang. The name ‘Red Rock’ was actually the name of the village where the family’s forefathers were from, the Red Rock Village in China. The Red Rock Hotel Penang is located in the heart of the historic town of George Town and near to the Penang’s famous Hawker Food Centre, along the Macalister Road, specifically at 202A of Macalister Road, George Town. This three-star hotel is housed in a nine-storey building. The hotel is near to a number of popular tourist destinations in Penang such as the KOMTAR and the Glass Museum among others. The hotel has three types of room. How to Get to Red Rock Hotel Penang

It is easy to go to the Red Rock Hotel in Penang as it is located in the middle of a city that is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia. Going to Penang itself is easy, be it by using private transportation or the public. From the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, the drive to George Town in Penang Island will take about four hours for a three hundred and sixty kilometres trip. The time, however, may change depending on the current traffic of the North-South Highway and also the traffic on the Penang Bridge as sometimes it can take hours just to cross the bridge due to the number of vehicles. There is also an option to take the ferry to cross the Penang Strait. The ferry carries both motor vehicles and pedestrians. Other than that, there is also an option to get on a plane from Kuala Lumpur to fly to Penang. The smallest room is the Standard Room, the medium-sized is the Deluxe Room and the biggest one is the Family Room. Each and every room are well equipped with the basic in-room facilities such as the cable TV, a desk and a chair, a hairdryer, a mini fridge and also coffee-tea maker set. All of the rooms also have a private bathroom with standing shower and mostly, have a bathtub. There is an ironing set that is available upon request to the housekeeping. The Standard Room is at 22.46 square meter with an option of bed for either having a double bed or two single beds. The bedding option is available upon request and subject to availability. The Deluxe Room is about 0.2 square meters bigger than the Standard room. The bed options are also subjected to availability. The Deluxe Room comes with the basic in-room facilities such as a working desk, a coffee-tea maker, and a mini-fridge. The Family Room is the biggest room type that the Red Rock Hotel has. The size is at 31.8 sqm that gives a good extra space even with two Queen beds in the room. This room is perfect for a family of four to stay. The room is also equipped with the basic in-room facilities just like the other two types of rooms. The price for a Family Room starts from RM 238 per night, inclusive of tax. This room also comes with a complimentary breakfast service for four people.

The Red Rock Hotel has three types of banquet and meeting rooms that are available to cater up to 600 people at a time. These rooms come in three different sizes, with the smallest being the Opal Room at 50 sqm and the biggest is the Emerald Room at 185 sqm.

The hotel also has a big swimming pool and a coffee house that is freely accessed by the guests staying at the hotel. Inside the hotel building, there is a limo service counter that operates daily from 6 am to 10 pm. This limo service is available for trips within and out of the island. Taxi is also available upon request at the concierge.

Glass Museum - This is one of a kind museum in Malaysia and also the first in the country. The Glass Museum has exhibits and showcases of decorative glass artworks. Some of these enchanting artworks are also for sale. The museum creates fascinating glass artwork designs that are visually appealing, not to mention that the designs are said to be the reflection of people’s lifestyle. Tourists who come to the Glass Museum are also entitled to a free glass-crafting glass with the help of the staffs of the museum. An adult ticket is at RM 18 for those who bring their MyKad and without MyKad, it is RM 23. For children from the age of 3-12, with a MyKid card, the ticket is at RM 10 while RM 13 without. The museum opens every day from 9.30am until 6 pm, except for Saturday when it closes an hour early. The Glass Museum is just 700 metres away from the Red Rock Hotel.
