Everything at Sahabat. Guesthouse is so so

Nice staff. Nice room. Nice service. A bit hard to find the location at the first day
9.7
The hotel is really comfortable and very clean, the bathroom was big enough, no hot water. Can watch TV in the living room, like at home. Close to the road alor. All Star LRT hill can walk 10-15 minutes. Raja Chulan to a bus stop can walk +/- 10 minutes, it could be the way to KL tower +/- 15 minutes to arrive. For the backpacker highly recommended.

Great choice for budget travelers to KL!
I stayed there for one night. The room was big enough, comfortable, clean and comes with a small balcony to enjoy the nearby city skyscrapers. Good location. Just a few minutes walk to Jalan Alor street where variety of foods are served. Highly recommended!

Dirty uncleaned bed and outdated room
I have no idea why this guesthouse is so well-rated as it was the worst place I've ever stayed at. I never complain about hotels or request for room change, but this place was absolutely unacceptable. I stayed in Marjoram room and it was an old outdated room with stained wallpapers. But who cares about wallpapers. I dropped my bags and was out and about the whole day and didn't go to bed until 1.30am. When I finally climbed into bed, I saw something move. Upon closer inspection, I saw a black ant moving on the bedsheets. .....and then another. I seriously was about to write it off because I was so tired ,but then I realized how many long black hairs there were on the pillows and bedsheets. Needless to stay, they didn't clean the bed and I wasn't going to stay there anymore. Long story short, after broken communication with zens telephone representative and Agoda, I was offered a different room at 4am. It was definitely a nicer room however upon closer inspection of the bed, it was the same result - dirty unclean bed. I even showed the receptionist...who insisted they clean the bed but really doesn't look it. I slept very uncomfortably on top of the blanket for a few houre and asked for a full refund. The guesthouse did give me a full cash refund. For the same price, you can stay at nicer hotels. Definitely would never ever stay with zen again. Absolutely horrible experience!!

Claen and comfortable, also good location
First, location is great. It's near by bukit bintang street, so you can just walk or ride a taxi if you want. And room was so clean, Simple and comfortable. You can use both hot water and cool water. And they offer you a breakfast as a bread and juice. But also, it's near by bukit bintang, so it's little noisy in weekends night.

Basic place to stay but didn't meet expectations
I think that the current rating is too high for the experience I had. The actual rooms weren't as good as the advertised photos. It actually looks worn out. Like the wallpaper is torn and the bathroom doesn't look very clean (walls are stained). The room is alright but my biggest qualm is the bed. You can feel the springs and it's a bit painful when sleeping. I couldn't sleep on my side. There's only 1 outlet which is all the way near the bathroom. If you need to charge your phone and use it, you have to walk all the way there. The lighting feels insufficient. There's only 1 ceiling light, very dim at night. So it actually feels dingy even if it's supposedly clean. For the shower, the heater doesn't work. It doesn't light up even after toggling all the buttons and knobs. My friend had the same experience in his room. Bathroom lacks racks and hooks. No place to place clothes and towel inside the bathroom. It has a toiletry rack but it's directly under the shower head so it gets wet. Towel rack is outside the bathroom, which doesn't make sense. Shower area isn't separated. You're basically showering right in between the toilet and sink. This doesn't feel hygienic when you shower. When I turn on the faucet, the pipe underneath the sink drips. The room I'm staying in (called Majoram) is right beside a common toilet and for some reason you can loudly hear the flush and a drainage sound. It's a bit alarming at first and could wake you up when you're falling asleep. Later on you get used to it. The WIFI fluctuates a lot. One minute it connects and later on, the signal drops completely. The friend who joined me actually stayed at Sahabat Guesthouse a few years ago. He loved the rooms because they were clean and spacious so he told me to book it. He was surprised that when we arrived, there was a Zen Rooms logo. According to him he didn't enjoy his stay this time. The quality wasn't as good as how it was before. On the good side, I liked the location best due to its proximity to cheap eats and restaurants friendly for first-time tourists. The accommodation wasn't so hard to find and the staff were knowledgeable. When we first arrived, I showed my Booking.com reservation document stating I reserved 2 rooms. The receptionist said that I was only given one room but she immediately changed the reservation and gave me 2 rooms. 2 days later the receptionist gave me an envelope containing a refund probably because of the hassle. That was very gracious of them. The best thing I like about this stay, apart from the location, is the staff. The room is basic (serves its purpose especially if you don't stay during the day) although I do feel that capsule hotels serve their function better than this. If it's a guesthouse, I think they should put a little effort in the quality they put in each room. I've been to other guesthouses in Asia with better accommodation for about the same rate so I'm a little disappointed with this.

Amazing guesthouse with central location
We stayed here multiple times throughout our trip in Malaysia-whenever we needed to be based in KL and we loved it. The location is central- very close to fantastic street food and restaurants. The staff is very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is nothing bad to say about this guesthouse.
