Very cosy , comfort hotel . Very impressed by the old British house which combine with classic architecture and modern interior design. Nice service, free red and white wine serve on pre-dinner time.

Awesome stay with top notch service. All the service staff are super duper friendly, honest and helpful. Will definitely stay w them again!

The breakfast does not give much of a choice to it's customers. However, the Nasi Lemak is delicious and sufficiently compensates for the lack of diverse choices. Other than this aspect, the cleanliness, service, and comfort left us with happy faces throughout our stay.
Good place for relax. I am satisfied.
Too bad, the maximum stars I could give is just 5 over here and if there is a 10 stars I would have given them that!! Ivan the manager over there was just amazing, he was a wonderful person with a pleasant characteristic and not forgetting all the wonderful staffs over there including the security guard too, they are all wonderfully amazing people and never fails to make sure that you feel like home in there. Everything was just superbly deal with. The place itself was true to its heritage design and its just feel vintage in there. Pricing was affordable and I feel that every single thing bout this hotel was just great!! I really miss this place over here and if anyone visiting Penang I would highly recommend you this hotel! No doubt bout it! I will surely book this hotel again when I come to Penang!! I would like to specially thank ivan for letting me and my wife have our pre wedding photoshoot in there! Everything was just perfect and thank you for every single thing. Please help me to say a big thank you to all ya staffs in there, will share with ya our photoshoot soon

Mixed feeling about this hotel but still recommended
Saw so many great reviews about this hotel so I have decided to bring my parents here. I have emailed the hotel in advance providing all out passport details, flight details. We got response at the beginning but there wasnt any reply afterwards. I have to reply to the hotel welcoming email again providing them the details. However, upon our arrival, at around 19:30-20:00, there was only one staff at the reception and he saw our driver moving our luggage but no one comes and greet us or offer help. Upon check in, I have to provide all our details again which was a bit frustrating as I was bringing my parents there and I don want to keep them waiting. We didnt get the connecting room as requested but we get rooms next to each other which were fine with us cause we understand there is no guarantee. But turn out the phone is my room wasnt working and I cant call my parents room and i have to get a room change. For my parents room, their bathroom flooded on the first night and we have to get someone to fix it (which my mum ran out in the middle of her shower). After that everything went well, staff are really attentive and nice, I guess all the incident happened is because they do not have enough stuff on our first night. Everyone in the lounge and the front desk (except a lady which when we called asking for towels or water we didnt get stuff came in in the end) were very helpful afterwards. You can tell the hotel is really paying attention to details by the amenities they prepared and the design of the hotel. We stayed in the Hard Rock hotel afterwards but all in all, I still prefer the Edison cause of the location, design and cleanliness. I loved the idea of the library and did read one of the book! Just think that they can do a little bit better since I believe they strive to provide the best service.

Stellar service!!!
Positives: 1) Personalized service by Charles, as well as lounge & reception staff (Connie, Shafiq, Zul & the other Chinese lady whose name I have forgotten - my apologies!) who were very helpful with suggestions on places to eat/see as well as arranging transport for us - they were wonderful hosts who took great lengths to make us feel at home! 2) Complimentary daily wine/cheese/afternoon tea & round-the-clock snacks/drinks at the lounge. 3) Clean room & comfortable bed. 4) Beautiful surroundings. Negatives: 1) Some doors/fissures showing wear & tear. 2) More variety for breakfast.

Beautiful, great location and amazing service!
Staying here was a real pleasure. The location is perfect, right off of some of Penang's most interesting and quaint streets. The building itself, inside and out, is stunning. The room was simple but had everything I needed from a very comfortable bed, to storage for my personal items, and a nice shower with great water pressure. They have bikes available for free to use around town which I highly recommend as it's a great way to see more of Georgetown. They give you a lock and helmet so you can park the bike anywhere in town while you go to a museum, get a massage or have lunch. The pool area and common areas were very peaceful. But the one thing that sets this property apart from others is the great service offered by everyone from the front desk to the cleaning staff to the lounge staff. The staff in the lounge, particularly Harris and Khamil, were so attentive, taking care of my every need, offering advice on things to do and making sure that I didn't want for anything. You go to the lounge for breakfast and then they also have a complimentary high tea for a few hours and a wine and cheese happy hour from 6-7 every evening. The person that really stood out for me was Michelle, the assistant finance manager who chatted with me over breakfast on my first day. She asked me what my interests were and then she suggested a few places to go, all of which turned out to be great recommendations (to name a few --- Peranakan Mansion and Aunt Gaik's restaurant). But most of all, she provided me with a map of all of Penang's street art which for me was invaluable and turned out to be the highlight of my time in Penang. With this map I biked around town and went to see every piece of street art that I wanted (mainly using the property's bikes). So my advice to you is come to Penang, stay in this gorgeous hotel and let the staff take great care of you! My one complaint was that the wifi didn't work while I was there but I'd purchased a SIM card at the airport so the 4G worked just fine.

Unbeatable experience!
I'm so glad that we discovered the hidden gem that is The Edison hotel. Upon arriving, it was an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of Penang. The staff were flawless and really made the whole stay so special for us (a particular shout out to Connie, who really went above and beyond and even printed directions for us to recommended restaurants!). Apart from the unbeatable service, the building itself is a historical marvel. A genuine colonial relic with its own history - the tour we received on checking in really helped us appreciate the amazing location we were staying in. Our room and the communal areas were perfectly decorated; modern and tasteful but still retaining a sense of timeless elegance. Couldn't recommended The Edison any more highly! The staff and hotel were perfect and the complimentary services throughout the day (breakfast, afternoon tea of traditional nyonya kuehs and wine tasting) were certainly bonuses in making or stay so comfortable and special. Thank you and we cannot wait to be back in Penang just to stay in The Edison again!

The real luxury is in the service
Its hard to say anything new, or say it differently, of what everyone says. All reviews below are 100% true. Because, at the end of the day, a hotel can have Picasso's dressing up their walls but if the service fails, then the whole experience goes down the drain. Service is not just outstanding. Is simply out of this world. A young, dynamic, enthusiastic, multitasking, friendly, caring, professional and with an extraordinary eye for detail. The covered the front desk, housekeeping or restaurant alike and they did a fantastic job at either. All leaded by a young Assistant Manager, Mr. Ivan, who will do anything in his power to make sure that this is truly your home away from home. Specifically in my case, we arrived in the middle of the night, almost at sunrise, after several delayed flights due to severe weather conditions. As a matter of fact, I ended with a small flu that knocked me down one full day in bed. My wife was overwhelmed by the continuous efforts of all staff to show their concern and help for my quick recovery. I felt it the same the next day when I walked out of my room. Amazing. They all had time to ask me how I felt. Breakfast is fantastic, fresh, well taken care of. You can use the kitchen at any time and help yourself to all the coffee, tea snacks, sweets and crackers available all day long. Do not miss the wine tasting at 18:00 hrs. Tastefully presented with complimentary Edam or Swiss cheese platters. Location is perfect, right next to George Town and its magnificent old town. Yes, they will find the time to tailor made your own personalized tour with advises and suggestions.
