Han Chin Pet Soo Museum -

Founded in 1893, Han Chin Pet Soo Museum was the place of the Hakka Tin Miners Club and rebuilt in 1929. This museum covers 3 floors and over 5000 square feet and showcases the history of Hakka people and tin mining industry. It also provides an insight into the activities at the tin miners’ club where prostitution, gambling, opium smoking and triad activities were carried out. Besides that, there is also a life murals painted by local students of the Perak Institute of Art (PIA) showing the tin mine experience throughout the years. There is also a section where the original tin mining equipment are displayed to highlight the process of tin mining from prospect tin to tin ore drying. The first floor of the building is dedicated to activities of the club members over the 122 years of its history. To know all about Hakka, the second floor provides the 1000 year long history of the Hakka people. There is also a kitchen display with wood-fired stove, kitchen utensils and tins. The museum opens from Tuesday to Sunday, but visitors are required to make bookings online or in person prior to their visit.
