Safety need to scale up. Table top of side table flipped and fell on my feet when I put my bag on top. Still got bruises on my feet.

Basic but okay
We stayed three nights here. It is a quite basic place, we slept in one of the villas on the hilltop. The room was simple but clean enough. The balconies on the outside look like they will break down in the next weeks. As in more places in Malaysia, maintenance is not a favorite pasture of the hotel staff. The breakfast was very simple, either Malay style or western style. Western breakfast means two toast, one egg to order, two sausages and coffee or tea. No fruit unfortunately. And just enough to do the job. We could borrow body boards to play in the waves for a while, good service. We found the staff friendly but very (too) passive. The restaurant itself also is not very special. (The tiptop restaurant on a 25 minutes walking distance is way better.)

unspoilt paradise with a cold beer and some great friendly people
Tommys Place is not the only accomodation to book near the Tip of Borneo, nor is it the cheapest but it is certainly the best all round value for money and staffed by the friendliest and most helpful people in this land of charming folk. The rooms are generally triple (king size and a single or 3 singles) and are clean and well equipped. DONT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE WANTING 5 STAR ACCOMODATION the rooms are basic and seeing as it is Borneo, you may see a chit chat (gecko) lizard or even a cockroach in your bathroom (clean and ensuite with a low power shower). DO STAY HERE IF YOU WANT A CHARMING, RELAXING, BACK TO BASICS (the WiFi is rubbish) TYPE OF HOLIDAY. All my family throughly enjoyed swimming in the sea (50m in front of the accomodation - and yes you do have to cross a road although the rate of vehicles is roughly one every 2 hours). I can reccomend the scuba and the snorkeling from a boat at a nearby lighthoue and reef. The fish are straight out of Finding Nemo! Overall, Tommys Place is highly recommended but it is what it is and if you want luxurious fixtures and fittings it is NOT for you. If however the more basic is your thing with a superb location, stunning natural surroundings and charming staff, don;t hesitate to book here. We loved it!

Good value place to stay
Booked through agoda, less than RM85 per night for a twin room, breakfast included. The rooms we were staying considered new and clean. Very comfortable night. We all slept soundly on that night. No reception was received when in the room, free WiFi is available at dining/reception area. The breakfast was simple, you can choose Malaysian style, American style or other 2 types. The staffs are helpful. We had good time here, thanks.

Literally bed and breakfast
They have 3 types of room; twin, triple and villa. I stayed in a twin room. It looks new with a spacious bathroom. Comfy bed and quilt. Limited choices of food.. for breakfast you can choose from American breakfast (the sausages are tasteless), Malaysian breakfast (fried noodles with egg), oat and cereal. As for lunch and dinner, they have rice and you can choose chicken, fish or prawn (prawn wasn't available when I ordered). Everything's overpriced. A can drink is RM4. If you drive a little bit further up to the Tip of Borneo, the can drink is RM2.50 They have hidden WiFi so please ask the receptionist for it if you want to go online. WiFi can only be used around the "lobby cum restaurant". Shortage of power supply, experienced no electricity for almost an hour, twice during my 2 nights stay. So we went out when there's no electricity. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Of course there's a beautiful beach with a breathtaking views. Just a short walk from Tommy's Place. Book through Agoda and you will get a cheaper rate.

Disappointed....
A place that you wouldn't stay with kids. Pros - Provides scuba service (subject to weather) Cons - The resort is not directly beside the beach, there is a road in between and approximate 80m to the beach, - No TV - Breakfast is not the buffet. Only serves American (Egg, Toast Bread and Sausages) & Local (Fried Noodles). - Check your window properly before you sleep as easy to be open up from outside. There are quite a number of resorts are being opened around the area which apparently having better outlook which seems to be better but not known till you stay there.
