Nothing beats the location of the hostel, facing Lake Tekapo and a short walk to everything. The lounge facing the view of the lake was magnificent. The facilities like the kitchen and the laundry are also a major plus—clean and modern. Our room was cozy and super clean. We only stayed a night, but wished we could stay longer to enjoy the view even more.

Bed was comfortable.
Room and bathroom with heater facilities.
As usual and similar to other shared rooms , hanging hooks is limited to one per bed thus used to it.
Same complaint on the water detergent but since I purchased one myself, thus is not an issue anymore.
Water pressure is good and glad was given a room w accessible thus room is bigger than normal 4 bedder room.

The place is nice overall, it's at a prime location. However their beds creaks!!!! Also the whole place only has 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. If the place is full probably close to 100 people staying the laundry efficiently not enough.
It's not a hard no but I'll not stay at Haka if there's other reasonable options in the area.

Lovely place to stay, we enjoyed staying in a hostel in a more rural part of NZ.
Just found it a bit noisy at night, the sound of the doors opening was constant. The walls were quite thin, so we could hear neighbouring rooms very clearly.

We stayed in an en-suite twin room at Haka House Lake Tekapo and found it spacious, clean, and well-located. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and the en-suite bathroom was a great plus.
Only downside was the heater—it seemed to turn off automatically after an hour, which made the room a bit cold during the night, especially in the autumn chill.
Still, a solid and peaceful stay in a stunning location. Would recommend, especially if you’re prepared for cooler nights!

The location of the hostel is unbeatable, although the cleanliness is abit dubious. Found some strands of hair in the bed so I wondered if the sheets were changed. Otherwise it was a comfortable stay, with a huge kitchen and lounge that is really appreciated. There’s also a supermarket nearby that adds to the convenience.

Nice friendly atmosphere. Well kept up. Amazing location for the price.
Almost fell out of upper bunk - ladder vertical and metal rungs very slippery - easy going up - challenging going down - nowhere for hands to grip. A slight slant to the ladder would have made all the difference.
Also bit crazy to put young people on bottom bunks and the middle 60's person on an upper.
Still enjoyed the experience of staying there.

Many facilities broken, only one washing machine operational for whole property. Coffee machine broken and for some time given milk in machine dated 2 months prior. Paint peeling off ceiling in room above bed. Paper thin walls in private rooms with neighboring room keeping us awake till after midnight.
