Good location with plenty of parking. Well maintained property. Check in process, was quick and efficient, be aware that you will need to book a time for breakfast. Didn’t eat at the restaurant in the evening, so can’t comment. However, breakfast was very good with lots of selection, both hot and cold. Big portions on the cooked breakfast, couldn’t finish it. Bar staff friendly. On the minus, we put a used towel in the bath expecting it to be replaced, however, on returning in the evening, found it put back onto the towel rail?? Also, when checking the time of our breakfast booking for the second morning with the male receptionist, instead of giving me eye contact, he looked me up and down from head to toe, maybe he didn’t approve of my fashion choice…. I found it quite unsettling and rude. It was so obvious that even my husband noticed!

The hotel is in fairly large estate surrounded by fields and just off the A75 a few miles east of Dumfries. It is an imposing building. We found the decor bland and beige in the reception area and also the room. The bedroom is well laid out with a modern bathroom. However the position of the TV on the wall made it impossible to fully see the screen while lying in bed. The bathroom had an over the bath shower which is not accessible to oldies like us. Also no grab rails on the walls beside the shower making it even more difficult for us to use. Tried to get a change to a room with a walk in shower but no luck. Better to book room with one in advance. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and attentive. Meals generally good, but sometimes coffee or tea not warm enough and breakfast items like bacon not crispy enough for our liking. We would probably return but making sure we booked a room with a walk in shower.

There were no disabled parking spots, only reserved ones for electric cars. I booked an executive room (112), and was surprised to note one of the windows looked onto the bin area and recycling, that has lights on most of the night and early morning noise. My bath had mould around the seals, and the bath plug had to be removed with a spoon, which dislodged more mould that floated in the bath. When I mentioned about changing my room before unpacking due to the view, there were no others available, and I mentioned the other comments at check out and nothing was said, just about the meal extras I had ordered and how I wanted to pay. For a 4 star I was disappointed

Clean room, excellent breakfast and dinner in the restaurant at very reasonable price and big portions. Close to Dalscone Farm and various other places to keep kids entertained. I booked the deluxe family room although didn’t really know what I was getting due to the lack of pictures online on any website. I would definitely return.
