We had the BEST stay at Spanish Farm!!! The property was amazing and the views were incredible. The staff was very accommodating and made our stay so special. This was our favorite place we have stayed in the Western Cape and we can't wait to go back! Our 2 bedroom villa had a nature pool, hot tub, full kitchen, fire place and tv. Perfect home away from home feel, close to Stellenbosch. If you get the chance we would 10 out of 10 recommend staying here!

The lodge is very quiet and peaceful. We stayed at the Rose Cottage which gives a lot of privacy. There are two small buildings/cubes which belong to the Rose Cottage, one is the bedroom and bathroom, the other is the kitchen and living room. Between the two cubes is a private outdoor space with outdoor shower. There is also a second outdoor space on the other side of the one cube. On top of one of the cubes is a private jacuzzi, which can be used for a very small surcharge. There is only very little things which could be improved at the Spanish Farm Guest Lodge. Additionally, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back!

No restaurant, breakfast only but lovely people amazing views. They will look after you but not much in the way locally so be prepared to order Uber-eats. A bit isolated, rooms clean and quite quaint. Aircon, beds and showers all lovely. So little there reception not open for long but WhatsApp group allows you to stay in contact.

We stayed in the honeymoon villa, which is probably the best of the private lodges. But it's not worth the price and the photos are very misleading. The private pool is just a pond with loads of tadpoles and frogs - which make an awful noise all through the night so you can't get a good night sleep. There were frequent power cuts, a common occurence in South Africa (known as loadshedding), but there is limited to no back up, even from the solar panels. During one 12 hour power outage, our solar apparently ran down to 12%, despite us being purposefully out all day so hadn't used any electric, so they turned all the power off completely - yet the main house where the owner lives still had the private pool pump working! We were definitely misled by the staff regarding the electric outages. Breakfast isn't included with the villas and is definitely not worth the 200 zar per person; it was tiny, mediocre and lame. The worst thjng is, the place could be absolutely idyllic, if they actually cared about their guests and gave them what they paid for. You cannot, these days, expect people to be on holiday and have no electricity - so no wifi, no telephone which required mains connection, no means to call emergency services if needed - it's a recipe for a lawsuit. I would never return and I would never recommend anyone stay here, when there are so many lovely alternatives in the area. It's so short sighted because there really is so much potential!

This is by far the most terrible and underwhelming experience. Our expectation were not even close to match what was advertised. We paid roughly R1600 for a super tiny room with a squeaky bed and doesn't even have a mini bar fridge. By patio they mean a tiny little area with high prison like walls, no landscape views nothing. Never been this disappointed. Oh by the way WiFi keeps going on and off and the cellphone network reception is almost non-existant in the area.

My husband and I stayed in the Rose Cottage. This is a totally different stay versus what is shown on the website for the guesthouse and villas. The Rose Cottage resembles an live in tree house with a beautiful rooftop jacuzzi that you can enjoy. The Jacuzzi takes three hours to heat up as it uses wood and fire systems. The kitchen has the bear necessities with a kettle that does not close until you beat it down and two gas plates however only one works. It gets really cold at night… so best pack in a warm sleep wear or lounge wear as the heater does not work. This is definitely not for holiday goers that want to enjoy some time off to sleep as the mattresses are worn out to no return. You will always have your towels nice and warm as the towel rack doesn't switch off… make sure you pack in some shower slops as the mould is rather prevalent… but when you look outside through the glass walls that surrounds you in the lounge and kitchen area all the discomfort goes away. The beautiful vision of the trees and beautiful birds from sunrise to sunset is something we could truly appreciate and enjoy.

Requested information regarding restaurants because it was our anniversary but never got a reply from the hosts. On arrival was told they will bring milk, which never arrived. The second day of our stay we advised them that the refrigerator, microwave oven, and other plugs don't work. A very unprofessional electrician showed up without the necessary tools to check and left us without resolve and no hot water for shower/bathing. We paid the full amount upfront and still have not even received an email to apologize for the inconvenience, let alone a part refund!

Good location to explore the Stellenbosch wineries. The rooms in the main villa are comfortable and are with large en suite bathroom. The rooms do not have a view, however.
