Stay at Fred Guest House was great! The accommodation was literally right outside Zurich HB (near track 41-44). Check-in was online and quite seamless (although we only got to know about it when we reached the front door). There was a small flight of stairs to the elevator. The room was bright and modern, and as shown in the pictures. Housekeeping was great and the room was kept clean throughout our stay. Overall, we enjoyed the stay at Fred Guest House!

the 'closet' were hangers over one of the two twin beds. AC barely worked and was so loud - like a truck going thru the room. No one at desk. Only access to management was via email. everything was via internet: check-in etc. awful.

I had a guest house room which was very basic. I did not like it. The TV did not work and the space was tight. The elevator was very small and narrow. It was not worth the high price i paid but hotels are expensive in zurich.

Clean hotel with a great location next to the train station.
Our room was very warm, it did eventually cool down with the windows open however, there are several bars/restaurants open late nearby so it can be noisy. Also frustrating, was we talked to the management about how stuffy the room was, and they suggested closing the blackout blinds which we had done...when we got back that evening housekeeping had opened the blinds leaving us with a very hot room.
The check-in process is also a bit quirky. They only asked for payment (and never confirmed that electronically), no keyless access was provided. Easy to get a key from the hotel next door but a bit inconvenient with one key for three people. Never did get a notification that our keyless access was available.
Overall, ok for a short stay during cooler weather.

Great hotel with incredible views and a peaceful atmosphere. Stayed here for over a week. The staff were all very kind and professional, but I especially want to give a huge shoutout to Claire. She was absolutely wonderful — always so friendly, attentive, and caring during the daily breakfast. She made sure my mom was taken care of.It really made a difference in our stay. Thank you, Claire!

Staff hospitable and supportive. Excellent location to reach central train station, tour bus and trams across hotel, breakfast with good variety of hot/cold food and available until 10am. Stayed at the hotel side, and paid extra to bigger room. During daytime, easy to locate - beside Starbucks. Nighttime, you need google maps to locate place.

Interesting concept for checking in. No keys necessary. Just swipe the outer door key on your app and it opens. Swipe the room key on your app and it opens. Rooms are small but I was just looking for an overnight stay between trains and planes and the Fred Guest House was perfect. Only a two-minute walk to the train station and only a 10-15 minute walk to downtown Zurich. No frills but has everything you need for a short stay.
